The Art of Falling for You (Falling Trilogy)

Let's start right off with the fine print and get that out of the way. Somehow I missed that this trilogy is three interdependent books about the same couple, so yeah, there be cliffies. That said, oh my heart, I love Bay and Dare so, so much! Hųghes has found the perfect balance between angsty heartache and hopeful forevers.Dare may be the bıg man on campus, star football player and part of the “in" crowd, but he has his share of baggage and strųggles. In three years he's not ever noticed his neighbor, The New Girl, until he hears her singing one day in her backyard. And from that moment on, she's all he can see.You'd think that after three years, Bay would no longer be The New Girl, but that's life in a small town. She's a little geeky and participates in theater and music, so she has no idea what to do when Mr. Popular starts giving her attention. She'd rather he just run along to the football field and let the sports groupıes fawn over him.This gifted storyteller has an amazing talent for penning new and young adult romance. These characters may be high school age but there's none of the manufactured drama and gross immaturity I’ve seen in so many others. Instead, these characters are complex and authentic, easily drawing the reader into their story.This first part of the trilogy takes us through Dare and Bay's relationship during their senior year of high school, and it took nothing at all for them to win me over. I can’t wait to see what happens next, because these two have taken up permanent residence my heart. Wait until you can read their story straight through, or jump in now and wait with eager anticipation along with the rest of us, but this is road to forever is one you won’t want to miss!

So for some reason I didn't realize or had just forgotten that TAOFFY is book one in a trilogy. Imagine my surprise when I get to the end and keep trying to turn pages because, HELLO a girl needs to know what's going to happen next. So yeah, all the pages were read and I'm just dying to know what's to come because Bay and Dare are EVERYTHING!!!!!Bay is a low key, down to earth kind of girl trying to figure out life after a major event that turned her world upside down. Dare is one of the football kings at school but all he wants is a way out of town, away from the life he has lived so far and he'll do whatever it takes to reach his goal.Sometimes things happen in life that has no rhyme or reason but changes your outlook on so much. When Dare hears the beautiful voice on the other side of the fence he needs to know who it is because it speaks to him like nothing has before. Because of this one encounter Bay and Dare are about to embark on many firsts and while many are perfect sometimes you just can`t stop the bad from breaking in."I`d played with fire and been engulfed in flames - first of desire, but now of pain."This is most definitely on my top reads of 2021 list and I foresee the other two right up there.

Formatted. We start off 4 years ahead, with a question mark, the the complete book is going back 4 years. It wouldn’t have been quite so bad if this wasn’t a bad cliffhanger. I mean nothing. I read the reviews and the blurb but nothing gave me a hint as to what this was. Sorry I might wait for the last book to be released to actually read, but I’m not even sure I’ll do that to my self...🤦🏼Disappointed with the. Complete book.

Just when I think I can't love a Maya Hughes book more than the last one, she goes and writes The Art of Falling For You......and I am totally in love Dare and Bay! This story hooked me from the start, as I loved getting to go back in time and see how their story started - especially after seeing how they reacted to seeing one another in the present.And oh what a story it was. Dare is the popular, football star. And even after 3 years of being there, Bay is the new girl, somewhat of a loner due to the nickname she's been given. But one night, Dare hears Bay playing her guitar and singing outside her house (he lives behind her)......and nothing is the same after that. He totally sees her in a new light and is completely drawn to her. Bay is just trying to get through the last few months of high school, but can't escape the same pull she feels towards Dare. I really just loved watching the progression of their relationship. It was just so natural and sweet and beautiful. But then......that moment where it all goes south.....my heart was absolutely crushed.Shortly after that, we go back to present time. And since this is a trilogy, you know a cliffy of some sorts is coming. And HOLY CRAP. This one..........well played Maya. Well played.

I was thinking as I neared the end of the book that the cliffhanger wouldn't be too devastating until Maya went and dropped a bomb on me. I am sitting here shocked and stunned and all I can think about is when can I get the next book? I loooooooove Dare and Bay. Their story has lots of tragedy but they find peace with each other. They were like pieces to a puzzle that was finally complete. I don't really know what else I can say except that my mind is still trying to digest all of that and I have so many questions and I NEED answers. Can't wait for more..... dying.

I love Maya Hughes books. She is the kind of writer that transports you into the story where the characters are alive. You become part of the story and what happens next is crucial to know. I can't wait for Part 2 of Dare and Bay's search for their HEA. Even with the damage done, these two deserve to find their way to bliss, boy do they ever!

Absolutely loved it! This was my read on a very long day of back to back flights home and I just finished it. I've pre-ordered the next book. I never pre-order anything. The last couple chapters had me bawling like a baby and demanding to know what happens next. April 8 can't get here fast enough! Dare and Bay are fantastic and I desperately need more. I need to see where their story goes.

Oh crap! I was so ready to see where their story went. Nail biting, edge of the seat and angst ridden. BAM! I have to wait for more! And let me tell you, I will wait! I couldn’t preorder the second book fast enough!

I hate leaving these kinds of reviews. there were so many gaps in the story that I kept thinking I missed parts and tried to go back and search for the scene or reference. like scenes were cut but it was still refered too later in the book. Also it was a slow read/burn kind of book. And I'm not sure Dares character made sense at the end...and to top it all off I wasn't expecting a cliffhanger. I wish I had enjoyed this book more.
