Is there a return period for this item if it does not fix the problem I've been having?

Installed and electrical parts usually dont get covered under return policies but this is amazon so take that for whatever its worth. Youre better off getting the problem diagnosed then getting the correct fix instead of throwing parts at the problem

Will this fit 2016 ford explorer limited?

This fits 2011-2016 Explorer for main recirculation. There are also an auxiliary unit, YH1889. Not sure which one you are looking for.

Will this fit a 2009 Ford Flex Limited with dual control hvac?

You have to realize that the dual-control cars have 4 of these and at least 2 of them are this model. This will fit the one that controls the temp and the one that controls the passenger temp. I don't know about the other 2 because...they have not broken yet.
