How well would this work to scare off trespassers?

Not very well. It's not really loud enough to scare more than maybe a trespassing cat. It's novelty, however, is pretty much spot on! It sounds just like an old school air raid siren(as long as the fins are not bent and rubbing on the case) just not nearly as loud.

I want to attach this to my beach cruiser bike, what would be the best power source other than a huge 12v battery? Anyway I can use smaller batteries?

I’m not sure how many amps it uses but you can get away with a smaller 12v Li ion battery 3000mah will do it.
