Terrible as I Remember!
Blaster is just as awful as I remember it! The price was inflated, too. Scalpers everywhere! It was never anywhere as cool and quality as Soundwave. Soundwave was and is, one of the best Transformers ever designed. Blaster was supposed to be the Autobot answer to the communications problem in your Transformer play universe, but it was just never there. Also, true to the original, is the lack of Autobot cassettes. It was a few years before those were released. So as kids, we would use Decepticon "tapes" to fill out the ranks. Steeljaw was great. Hasbro - please release them. They were cooler than Blaster himself.Blaster feels and looks as cheap as it did over 30 years ago. My friend got this figure along with Perceptor, a knockoff Devastator, and some MASK toys. Ohhhh how MASK brings back memories! That's a whole other topic, though. We marveled how large the figure was. "He's taller than Optimus!" I will never forget that observation. I got the toy when tired of it, because he complained it sucked. I cannot agree more. Blaster did, and does suck! When I finally got the thing handed down, the controls were busted on the front. Yes, the "play" would be notorious for breaking. I have no idea why it worked, when it served no purpose. Plus, all the other "controls" were just part of the mold.Stickers are pre-applied, which is very nice. The head mold is really cool. I always liked Blaster's face. Now, why would I recommend it when I just trashed it? Again, it's Blaster. Despite the flaws, it is unique, and everybody that's a Transformer fan knows what Blaster means in the transforming robot universe. He stands proud with the other characters that simply did not meet the demanding "it's not like the cartoon" standard. Ironhide comes to mind. Yeah, he really, really, really sucked, but how can you not still want it in your collection? No other figure will ever look like that. You know it is a Transformer.Yes, some Transformers do not belong in that group. As time went on in the original run, a lot of the figures got cheaper and just looked terrible. Pretenders are a good example. Blaster is nowhere near that trash. So, if you can find this at your local Walmart, get it. Just hope the cassettes get released soon.Which I have serious doubts about.

Classic G1 Blaster
Exactly like the G1 Blaster. Not one of my favorite autobots, but still a pretty cool one. And just like the original Blaster, this one does not come with any of the cassettes, which when you think about it is kinda crappy considering the price. Personally I have Transformers cassette figures all over the place so it's not like I needed to buy any, but if you don't have any to begin with, I'm sure this is going to make you want to pick up a few. Especially if it's for a kid. He does come with the big rifle accessory. Stickers come pre-applied, but one of them was pretty crooked and I felt compelled to pull it off and stick it back on straight. In case you are not familiar with G1 Blaster, the transformation is fairly simple and everything is made out of plastic. No die cast metal parts, although the shoulder and hip joints are metal pegs. He's just the same hollow, boxy toy as he always has been. But still, he's an 80s boombox, and the nostalgia factor is there. The buttons depress somewhat realistically, although they (obviously) don't do anything except for the one on the left, which pops open the cassette door. All the G1 cassettes will fit.

Just as chunky and fun as you remember him, still has
This is a great toy- not just to relive what it would feel like to play with him in the 80's, but for anyone who wants to get into Transformers. The transformation is simple, but still requires a little bit of thought for people just getting into Transformers. It's not the most poseable toy (being that it was meant to be exactly like the 80's toy), but it has enough fun features to make it worth the price, like buttons that can even open the cassette slot and a blaster that's compatible with modern Transformers.
