safe to hold microwave cover inside microwave? I have a perfectly good cover and would like to put magnets to hold cover when not in use.

I don't know why it wouldn't work, if the microwave has metal near the cover. The magnets I got are pretty powerful so be careful where you put it. Plus, they are Ferrite. I use ferrite magnets to reduce interference on my tv's, appliances, anything that is electric gives off waves. I don't not install any of my CB radio equipment unless I got the ferrite beads installed.

Where are the poles oriented? I would like to find one with a pole on the inner ring and the other pole on the outer ring.

There are two of them so there are opposing pole no problem I will say I had to order them again because they are strong and when they snapped together they shattered.
