Is the silicone used for this specific product "100% fda grade" or is that a more general comment regarding silicone?

Being "100% FDA grade" or "FDA compliant" does not mean anything. The FDA relies upon complaints from consumers such as you and me before they inspect products for compliance. Many customers do not know how to inspect their products. For this reason, you get great reviews without much substance. Another customer answered my comment that the silicone turned white. According to this article: https://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/10/dining/10sili.html if white shows through there are fillers which means it is not pure silicone. If not pure silicone it is not food grade. StarPack, may you please address these concerns? Can you do third party testing? Is your manufacture facility in China inspected, regulated, and clean? If yes can you give proof?

I'm not a lab so I really can't answer your question. What is the difference between basics (fda) and premium (lfgb) versions?

Hi there, thanks for your inquiry.

The difference between our Basics Range and Premium Range is the quality and purity of the silicone used, which gives the Premium Range a higher temperature resistance when cooking.

Our Basics Range is FDA grade and is heat resistant to 480°F. FDA grade means the products meet the FDA requirements for food grade silicone (specifically related to regulation FDA 21 CFR 177 - Total Extractive Residues - and is primarily concerned with the silicone's inertness or leaching under various conditions).

Premium Range is LFGB grade and is heat resistant to 600°F. LFGB is Europe's equivalent of the FDA and they are stricter in their requirements which can only be achieved with a higher purity of silicone. Aside from the enhanced performance of the product, they are also packaged in Premium Range branding.

Our products are tested for their adherence to these requirements annually by SGS Group, one of the world's largest independent testing laboratory corporations.
