Great Even Heat
This was a replacement to a burner. I opted for this cast iron version so I could more even heat. It works perfectly for cooking. The only two down sides are that it stays hot a long time after I've turned it off. But, that is the phonomenum of cast ìron. The other thing is that the burner top has circular grooves into the plate it of the burner, which makes it hard to clean.Over all, it's been a great burner.

Inexpensive but sturdy
works perfectly in my classroom for small cooking tasks--easy to clean, much better than the ones with rings

It won't burn your food unlike other ones
I ended up having to buy a Mainstays coil burner hotplate too at Walmart too, because when frying things this hotplate does not get hot enough while the other one does, but this one is safe while cooking while the other one is not and will crust and burn food. Now I use both, this one for safe cooking, the other for frying. Both measure 930W on a wattmeter, but this one cuts off at a lower temperature, while the coil burner from Walmart has the coils visibly red hot, and cuts off not as a function of coil temperature, but what temperature it records inside the body of the unit somewhere. When I prepare rice, I like to fry it in a ton of oil until it gets pink-light brown, then drain most of the oil and pour water on it and boil it to make it swell up. This unit is unable to make it pink-brown, only white, while the Walmart coil burner is able. Also when frying, say bologna, in an egg-flour coating, this unit is only able to fry it white, it will not give it a nice crispy golden-brown look, while the Walmart Mainstays one will. This one is great for cooking not as much for deep frying. So I start out with the Walmart one, fry the rice, drain the oil, but for the water cooking part I switch to this one as it's safe and won't crust the starch on the bottom while cooking in water unlike the other one. Also my uncle had a ton of tomatoes in his garden and I got buckets and buckets full, and to preserve I cook them then freeze in plastic containers. On setting 4 out of 5 on the dial this one does not crust the tomatoes or just very slightly, while still giving a nice boiling simmer over 3-4 hours in a 20 quart pot with a glass lid, unlike any other burner or a gas stove. Tomatoes are notoriously hard to cook without crusting. I gave it 4 stars as it would be nice to get a higher temperature out of it, and just dial down the dial for a lower one. But I really like it, easy to clean, and I'm happy with it.

Compact, Powerful, and Perfect for Extra Cooking Space
The electric countertop single burner (1000W) is a very practical little cooktop that comes in handy when you need extra cooking space, whether it’s for a small kitchen, dorm, office, or even outdoor use.The 7.25-inch cast iron hot plate heats up quickly and distributes heat evenly, making it suitable for boiling, simmering, frying, and warming food. For a single burner unit, the 1000W output is surprisingly efficient and handles everyday cooking tasks without issue.I also like the 5-level temperature control knob. It’s simple but effective—easy to adjust between low simmer and full heat without complicated settings. It’s especially useful when you want more control over delicate cooking like sauces or keeping food warm. The design is compact and lightweight, so it’s easy to move and store when not in use. The stainless-steel base looks clean and wipes down easily, which is a big plus after cooking. Spills and splatters don’t stick too badly, making cleanup quick. It’s not meant to replace a full stove, but as a backup burner or portable cooking solution, it performs very well. Great for apartments, travel setups, or holiday cooking when you need an extra burner.Pros:-Heats up quickly with even heat distribution-Simple 5-level temperature control-Compact and easy to store or transport-Durable cast iron hot plate-Easy-to-clean stainless-steel base-Great for small spaces or extra cooking capacityCons:-Only one burner (obviously limited capacity)-No digital temperature display-Exterior can get hot during extended useOverall:A reliable, no-frills electric burner that does exactly what it should. If you need extra cooking space or a portable backup stove, this is a solid and affordable choice.

Will NOT boil acid!
I’m sorry, but I think the other reviews are far too generous — this thing is a joke. I bought it for one specific purpose: to boil acid during a gold extraction. I read the reviews and saw people mention the light, but nowhere in the directions does it explain that the unit will shut off before your liquid is even boiling or right as it starts to bubble. That leaves you stuck for days, literally.I already own an expensive scientific magnetic‑stir hot plate. I bought this because I needed a simple, steady‑heat hot plate for a different step in the process — something that didn’t need precision, just reliable heat. This does not deliver enough heat, and the automatic shutoff makes it completely useless for anything that requires sustained temperature. The shame is that I could have bought a double burner at Home Depot instead. I went to three different stores and none had a single burner, so I ordered this one on Amazon — and I totally got scammed. It’s out of the box, the packaging is gone, and I’m still going to try to return it. But I want to warn anyone who needs to boil anything: don’t buy this.

Gets hot and stays hot
I ordered without reading through because I was expecting a coil surface, but this has a solid surface. Takes a while to heat up and stays very hot after use. I was hoping to ditch my electric skillet because of the non stick surface that I want to avoid, but because it takes so long to heat up and then cool off after cooking, it didn’t do as I had hoped. However, might be good for use as an extra burner for anyone who needs one but not as the main cooking appliance as I had hoped. Looks nice but needs devoted attention to use properly. I just don’t have time to fiddle around and wouldn’t leave my house until it cooled off, so ended up late for work. To be fair it does seem well made, but not workable for my living situation. I have returned it.

Quality made
Pretty cool however the top stays mega hot for a long time in which could start a fire if you’re not careful. Otherwise it’s quick and easy to use and great for travel or for camping etc. highly recommended and the price is great for the outstanding quality and the sturdy build.

The perfect coffee cup warmer!
This Ovente solid cast iron single burner is working out just fine for me. It's well made and designed with style and functionality in mind. I use it primarily as a coffee cup warmer because I like my coffee kept HOT not lukewarm, and frankly there's nothing out there that will do this better. It's also nice looking and made with quality materials. The nice feature about cast iron burners is that once they get hot (takes about a minute) they keep a more even temperature. While morning coffee cup warming is my primary use, I also have used this for cooking outside and this works fine as an auxiliary stovetop. Although my cooking uses have been more slow-and-low, this can sear a steak with no problem. So far, I love it!

Práctica
Es una estufa eléctrica muy práctica, de muy buena apariencia y que cumple su función perfectamente. Muy satisfecha con mi compra, y el precio que pagué por ella.

Barely does the job
If you need to boil water to actually sanitize/disinfect water, go with something else. It’s got an element, but the wires used to connect it to the wall outlet are bottlenecking the energy transfer, so any decent amount of water in any reasonabley sized pot will never boil. If you felt like rewirijg it, it’s a matter of removing 1 compression nut from a threaded rod off the bottom and the entire thing flies open.

Elegante
Ocupa poco espacio, se ve bien en la cocina y calienta muy bien

Not a cooktop. Doesn't boil.
Absolute nonsense. It has an auto shut off that switches power on and off above a certain temperature, literally preventing it from boiling water. ZERO info about this anywhere.
