Why I Make Everyone I Mentor Read This Book!
Initial Impressions There are certain books that always get mentioned when the topic of self-improvement comes up, and this one is near the top of that list. For me, it has lived up to the reputation. From the moment I started reading, it became clear that this wasnโt just another โfeel goodโ read but something deeper, a practical roadmap for personal growth. Build Quality & Design As a book, the layout is straightforward, but the design is intentional. Each habit is given enough space to breathe, with examples and principles that build on one another. What some readers may not know is that this book also has an accompanying workbook. That resource isnโt just an add-on, itโs a powerful extension that helps move ideas from theory into practice. Functionality & Performance The strength of this book is in its performance as a life tool. While you could read it in a day, itโs best approached chapter by chapter, with time to pause, reflect, and apply each habit before moving on. That slower pace makes the lessons stick. For me, this wasnโt just informativeโit was transformative. Ease of Use / Setup Thereโs no complicated setup here, just a willingness to be honest with yourself and put in the effort. The writing style is clear and accessible, which makes even the heavier concepts approachable. The addition of the workbook makes applying the habits even more practical, almost like having a guided journal alongside the main text. Pros & What I Liked Most What stood out to me is how timeless the principles are. They donโt feel tied to a particular era or trend, but rather to human nature and effectiveness. I also appreciate that the book doesnโt encourage speed-reading your way to success. It invites you to slow down, wrestle with each idea, and then put it into practice. For my own life and the people I mentor, this has been a game changer. Cons & Areas for Improvement The only drawback I can see is that some readers might try to rush through it, treating it like a motivational quick-fix. If that happens, theyโll miss the real value. But thatโs less of a flaw in the book itself and more of a mindset issue. Who This is Good For This is for anyone serious about long-term growthโleaders, mentors, parents, or anyone looking to reset their approach to personal and professional life. Iโve gone so far as to make it mandatory reading for the people I mentor, because Iโve seen the difference it makes when someone not only reads it but applies it. Value for the Money In terms of impact, the return is immense. For me, itโs been a life changer. For those Iโve recommended it to, itโs been the same. The investment isnโt just in buying the book, itโs in the time and energy to apply it. Thatโs where the payoff comes. Final Thoughts From what Iโve seen, this isnโt just a book to read once and put away. Itโs a companion for life, something worth revisiting at different stages of your journey. Combined with the workbook, itโs one of the most practical and powerful tools for personal change Iโve ever encountered. Iโd recommend it without hesitation to anyone who wants to build habits that truly last.

This book will change the way you look at life.
This is, hands down, one of the best and most powerful books I've ever read in my life. I have recommended it to countless people. The fact that you're seeking it out says volumes about your level of self-awareness as it is and this book builds on that. Very seldom do books really make me get involved when I read them, but this book made me break out my highlighter and notepad. There was so much good stuff I just had to take notes I could quickly reference. You know how some books make you say things out loud? You'll read something and say, "YES! EXACTLY!" or read something profound and just sit dumbfounded, going "Wow," and you have to take a moment to reflect on it? This book is full of moments like that. There is a lot of practical stuff in here, too. Challenges for you. Ways you can start to shift your thinking by taking an emotional inventory of your life and what you're doing/feeling every day. Just writing about it makes me want to go back and read it again. If you're here looking for a book that will help you harness that little spark inside of you that's saying, "You can be better" then this book is it. You're not an animal. Life doesn't condition you like a dog. This book is about the untouchable part of your human spirit that no one besides you controls. This book is about carrying sunny weather with you where ever you go, learning how much a proactive attitude benefits you, and really how sad and wasteful it is to walk through life allowing things to ruin your day. Things don't ruin your day. YOU ruin your day. You are always in control. Seriously, read this book. You won't regret it.

Highly Recommend
Classic. Habit 5 was a big one for me: seek to understand. Really listening to a person with empathy. Not listening with the intent to reply, but listening with your eyes, ears and body language to really understand what that person is trying to communicate. I applied some of the principles mentioned in this book and they have helped me further improve relationships with others. I really like how he gives a principle and then follows up with examples of how the principle works; really insightful. When I read the first few chapters, I didnโt understand the praiseworthy comments and high reviews. But after sticking with it and reading it all the way through, I understand now. One of the best books I have read and I have continued to thumb through it year after year just to brush up on some things. Excellent book and I would definitely recommend. Especially if youโre in a business setting and deal with multiple personalities throughout the day. Five stars.

My Review of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
On behalf of my child: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephan Covey is a great book for self-improvement. The book is made for adults, but 11 year olds or anyone over 11 can read it. Itโs very informative as it teaches you to awaken you consciousness and teaches to become interdependent. Habits that I focused on in the book are, habit one, be proactive, habit 4, think win-win, and habit 6, synergize. I highly rate this book 4 stars not only does it make you more aware, but it makes you think wiser. Building habits is not easy, but this author encourages to keep on trying. Habits don't only effect us, but can influence others. The only problem in the book is that it gets boring after a while. If you enjoyed the book, you should check โThe 8th Habit" or for little ones, โThe 7 Habits of happy kidsโ.

"Proactive people focus their efforts on their Circle of Influence."
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is filled with so many great ideas. This book has a very strong reputation with over 25 million copies sold and it has been published in over 70 countries, the book has lived up to its name and reputation. The information in the book is common sense, but as we learn, is not common practice. Before we learn about 7 habits, we must have healthy deposits in our "emotional bank accounts". Once we understand the idea of an emotional bank account, we begin to build the 7 habits. The goal of the book is to make this information a common practice and by the 7th habit, to sharpen our newly formed habits to ensure we enforce personal change. If I had to choose one single takeaway from the book, it would be in habit #1 "Proactive people focus their efforts on their Circle of Influence." This idea is the beginning of learning how to separate the things that matter versus the things that don't and understanding that highly effective people operate based on their principles. Eliminating the circle of concern and investing in the circle of influence is what proactive people do. I highly recommend this book, a must-read classic!

Practice the habits before you make your decision on this book
I bought this book because I was tired of being awake at 4am working all night on papers due at 9am. 7 habits takes very general habits to learn ,but then breaks them down in ways that are easy to understand and very relatable. For example, when he mentions the 2nd habit as "Begin with the end in mind," he tells you to live your life as if you can attend your own funeral and have people say great things about you. You donโt have to be the CEO of a business to appreciate the values found in here; he applies them to relationships with family members and spouses as well. Although, I sometimes wish there were case studies or something to back up the principles instead of purely anecdotal evidence, I still really enjoyed the read. Everyone could read 7 Habits and take something home with them that would benefit the rest of their life and even Covey mentions this book as more of a refresher that we should occasionally read a part of to continue our progression with the habits. This book has overwhelming positive reviews, like one Amazon reviewer who thought the most important thing to bring home from the book is that โThings don't ruin your day. YOU ruin your day. You are always in control,โ but other Amazon reviewers were disappointed with the โempty self-help clichรฉs.โ Considering myself unlucky and bucking responsibility for things โoutside of my controlโ, this book reminded me that we our lucky to be able to make our own luck. Just for that important reminder alone I give it a 5/5.

a very helpful discussion of principles of living
I thought that The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People was a pretty useful book. A number of discussions in the book were helpful. Dr. Covey based his system on what he refers to as โcorrectโ principles. Why are the principles correct? The main evidence he offers is circumstantial: Namely that we see them as central principles for behavior throughout the world. Why should we center ourselves around these principles? Again, Dr. Covey seems to imply that the reason is largely empirical. I thought that his discussions of empathy and synergy were very good. I was also very impressed with his idea of "quadrant 2" issues, that are not urgent, but important. However, the book is very rich in its discussion, and one is likely to find that, in thinking about what he writes, there is much of great value, even if much of it seems to be just ordinary common sense. He discusses many important points about our individual lives, especially with respect to interactions with others or business negotiations. On the other hand, he sees the "personal victory" of acting as a free agent between "stimulus" and "response". Many of the harsh and deep problems of people are unrelated to taking charge and taking responsibility. Thus, when one first reads the book it may seem to be superficial. But I have recognized much wisdom in it as I have thought about the principles he espouses.

Worth Reading at least Once, and You'll find Yourself Referencing it Long After as well
I'm sure there are better reviews of the actual content of this book on this site or other sites. Therefore I'll just focus on what it does and how it affected me. Right now I'm only halfway through the book, and already I've hit a handful of profound insights from it. And usually a nonfiction book will give you one profound insight, if you're lucky. You hear about this book all over the place, and so it feels like maybe it's over hyped. How great could it really be. How to Win Friends and Influence People seems to be of a similar caliber, and while that book is full of useful advice, not a whole lot of it is profound or especially perspective shifting. This book is on a completely different level, it's really playing a completely different game than nearly every other self-help or productivity book. It didn't just live up to the hype for me, it went way past what I was expecting it to. If you've ever thought of picking this book up and seeing if it was actually worth it, then do. If you're anything like me you will not be disappointed. I would also order a pen and notepad if you don't happen to have one kicking around your house, because you will want to not only take some notes, but also do the very fascinating and useful exercises in this book. Really, I'm sad I didn't read this sooner, because it helps you forge a direction in your life through that oh so famous quote of beginning with the end in mind. I'll actually use that as an example, when you hear begin with the end in mind you think that must mean when you're starting a project or you have some sort of goal you have to think of how you want it to end up and then plan pretty much backwards. And that is great advice, and that's part of what that quote means. But that's not the whole story. Begin with the end in mind in this book is actually a form of meditation. Memento Mori. It's beginning with imagining your funeral in a handful of years, and imagining what you want different people from different parts of your life, be that workplace, family, and others, what you hope they would say about you. And then working backwards from that not as one working back from the end of a goal, but actually working back in order to set up your whole life on the track you want it to go down, instead of just floating by. I was surprised by this, and I actually put the book down at the beginning of this chapter so that I could come back to it when I had more free time and a quieter moment and do the meditation properly and get some decent life answers out of myself. I said above that I'm only halfway through the book, and to be honest if the rest of the book is filler, it would still be worth buying for that one chapter. Either way, I'm looking forward to whatever Stephen Covey has for me in the coming chapters, and if you're at all on the fence about this book or unsure about it, hopefully this encourages you to spend the couple dollars to pick up your own copy. I have the audiobook, and I bought a physical book just cuz I knew I would be referencing it again in the future, and I will comment that the audio narration is just fine and if you want to pick up that version feel free.
