What is the speed reduction? I have the EA9500.

I have not seen a noticeable reduction in speed and my kids have not complained, so my assumption is that the speed is still OK.I have the Linksys EA8500 router. I ran two speed tests. Once when I was connected to my main wifi & then again with the extender. The results: Main Wifi - Download: 41.48Mbps / Upload: 4.58Mbps. Extender Wifi: Download: 32.21Mbps / Upload: 4.36Mbps

Will this connect hardwire Cat5 to use as access point rather than range extender? I have 2 places w/Cat5 & 110 running from main router

YES: EXPAND YOUR WI-FI NETWORK WITH ACCESS POINT MODEYou can configure the RE7000 range extender to act as an AC access point to extend your home Wi-Fi and reduce dead zones. Access Point Mode allows you to add Wi-Fi capabilities to your existing home wired network.Simply connect the AC1900+ range extender using a Gigabit Ethernet cable to your router or other wired Internet adapter, and place the RE7000 where you need a Wi-Fi boost.ref: http://www.linksys.com/us/p/P-RE7000/?bvstate=pg:2/ct:r
