can you run the wires for power directly to the power switch on my wood lathe?

Hello; The requirement for the 4-digit counter is a DC voltage between 8 and 15 VDC. Your switch, I presume, switches 120VAC to the lathe if you live in the U.S., and 240VAC if you live in Europe, England, or a few other countries. It would make for a nice fireworks display if you connected this device to a higher AC voltage. What I did was to buy a small 120VAC to 12VDC low current power supply, and it was about the size of a small box of matches, perhaps an inch (25mm) on the longest side. The power supply and display come on with the switch, and report on my lathe's RPM just nicely. I hope this helps, best of luck, Ken

12 mm x 1 mm pitch. Kind of an oddball size. Hope this helps

Can I use a 3/16" or 1/4" dia. magnet that is longer, so I can drill a hole in a pulley, so it can't fly off?

Your probably better off with a drop of 2 part epoxy or super glue. By drilling the pulley and replacing with a different density material you may change the balance and induce vibration. I just let the magnet hold it on my wood lathe shaft so far to 1200rpm.

I have a vfd suppling power to a 3 phase motor, the vfd has a terminal with 10vdc output connection but only allows 10ma is that enough power to run
