Warlord Games: Beyond the Gates of Antares Dice Game 50261001

I was in the market for a pure dice-rolling game, and BTGoA didn't disappoint. I haven't played their miniatures game, but I like the look of their armies and the whole aesthetic of their universe. This game is derived from that universe, and plays really well. The gate dice and the fate dice really mix things up.All of the components (dice, cards, even the box) are top notch, and my favorite touch is that you get two rulebooks. The game is also very small and easily portable.My only complaint is that the faction cards aren't exactly balanced with their special abilities. There's one that's clearly the best, allowing the player to start with a gate die and a highly favorable special ability. But, since this game hinges almost entirely on luck--although the fate dice allows for some strategic decisions when you control them--I suppose that the unbalanced special abilitites aren't that big a factor.Overall, I'm glad I got this, and will continue to play when opportunity allows.
