Dangerous!
Love this knife. Caution it is very sharp. Kinda clunky when closing keep it away from your body. I accidentally dropped it when closing it and it went right through my shorts and cut my thigh deep. The safety stop to keep you from cutting your fingers off works well. Make sure you have a good grip.

Impressive!
It's a hefty tool, giving it a solid, well-built feel right out of the box. The knife seems incredibly durable, and the safety features are excellent—you'd have to be extremely careless to cut yourself while opening or closing it. The sharpness of the blade is also top-notch, cutting through materials with ease. However, there is one drawback: the latch that holds the two folding handles together is very difficult to operate. While it's undeniably secure, I find it extremely hard to unlatch without using some tool to assist. The amount of pressure needed to press open the lock with your thumb is almost too much, which can be frustrating in the field. One other minor gripe is the stonewash finish. It's not a dealbreaker, but I would have chosen a different model if I had known more about the appearance. All in all, it's a well-made knife with some minor usability issues, but its sturdiness and sharpness make up for it.

So sharp I had to go to the ER
I love this knife, despite my trip to the hospital. It’s compact, rugged, and sharp. So sharp that right out of the box I cut myself. Note, while closing the knife there is a snag point to keep the knife from closing on your own fingers, good feature, but if you’re not ready for it, it may cause you to drop the knife. Even while sitting cross legged and the knife only falling 6-8 inches it pierced through my foot near my ankle, severing an artery. The knife was so sharp I felt almost no pain, though there may have been some shock involved. I highly recommend the gerber doubledown, just don’t drop it on your own foot.

Non-functional and UNSAFE
Like others, I found this machete unworkable. It takes both hands to try to compress the four! safety locks, that are manufactured so poorly that it takes 5-10 minutes to open or close the handles. And there is no way in h*** to latch the handles into position for safe use. The dimensions for the latch are just wrong. Plus you’re wrestling with the handles within an inch of the exposed blade. Very Disappointing, Gerber! Looks like a product safety liability problem to me.

Is what it says it is
It came sharp oit of the box but with a little tweaking with my stone and wart hog it is razor sharp. Spent the afternoon splitting oak and it went right through it. The more you open and close it the easier it becomes. If yoir interested in bushcraft this is the ticket enjoy.

Great Knife But had to Return it.
Gerber is great I love their products. But I had to return this because I couldn't squeeze the handles in place to secure them when wanting to use thr knife. I even oiled it a bit. But I'm not weak, this was impossible to squeeze close enough to secure bottom lock. Plus handles feel cheap, they are plastic. The blade is great.

One sturdy tool
This thing is a beast, very well built (in the USA), I would recommend it to anyone that want a machete but not the long type that you are familiar with. It is very solid, no rattles, and once the mechanism is locked open, it takes effort to unlock it. I like the built in safety feature with having to press the buttons to open and then again to change hand position to fully open and it operates the same when closing it for storage. It comes with a nice nylon sheath to store it in. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend it.
