Beautiful writer - lovely to hold
I have two much older versions of this pen - this feels different but is still very beautiful to both look at and use. I bought both fine nib and medium nib. They get better and better with regular use - like any good fountain pen. The ink flows well and the lid is a positive fit. It may be lighter in weight than the original but that does not detract from the pen at all

Surprisingly, wonderful.
I've owned a number of original Parker 51s, all purchased second hand and sadly each one had various problems, from leaking to irregular ink flow. I've kept one, as I really do like these pens and they remind me of my school days.I was delighted to hear that Parker were going to re-make this classic fountain pen, but worried that it would be similar to the other remakes, eg the Parker Jotter which is about as cheap in feel and looks that one can get...But, I was surprised with the overally quality feel of my new Parker 51. It writes beautifully, after an initial non-action, and it doesn't leak. As I writer, I write everything from notes to first drafts in longhand. Thus far, 25,000 words on, my new Parker 51 is behaving beautifully. I personally like to write with the cap 'uposted' as it's ligther and less top-heavy.I'd recommend this new Parker 51 fountain pen to anyone considering buying a new one.

Fine fountain pen.
This is a fine pen, writes well. I have to say it writes very similar to my Parker Jotter pen. Which is fine with me. As a leftie it writes smooth, can be a bit scratchy at times. I did buy the Waterman Carène but the well, it wouldn't write letters so, that didn't work so, returned and bought the 51 instead (I was actually very disappointed with the Waterman). Quite a difference in pen but least the 51 actually writes.I've written with fountain pens for over 10 years, even as a leftie I don't find that a issue due to the way I write nor do I smudge the ink (I tend to tilt the page 90 degrees and write under the line).I do find parker quink ink is actually quite good.Remember to purchase a converter with this pen as it doesn't come with one.Overall for £45 which is what I paid due to the discount, its a decent pen. Not one to rave about but it does its job and to be honest I like the style of it. I got the burgundy and a medium nib, and it's quite dark, but actually a nice colour. I could actually get away with a fine nib and I'm sure it'll write just as nice.

Gorgeous hooded nib fountain pen!
I never had the vintage Parker 51 so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but this is a lightweight fountain pen. I’ve inked it with Diamine tempest and the pen writes smoothly straight out of the box! My only grip about it is, it doesn’t come with a converter but two Parker cartridges in blue and black instead. I would have much preferred a converter so this allows people to try different inks. But I can’t complain and it does with the pretty fancy box.

Disappointing
Looks the part and comes in a really nice box but the pen itself is really disappointing, especially when you consider the price point. It's construction is described as stainless steel and resin, but resin is just a posh way of saying plastic - and cheap plastic at that. So cheap, in fact, that simply posting the stainless steel cap leaves scuff marks on the resin body. It writes really well and is comfortable and nicely balanced but the scuffing issue is really something that you don't expect from a pen at this price. Returned and exchanged for a Parker IM which was half the price and seemingly much better build quality. The box wasn't anywhere near as nice but nobody writes with a box.

Disappointing
Bought this mostly to add to my collection of fountain pens as it is a classic Parker design, copying the Parker 41.Alas, that is all it does.It is not a good pen for the price asked and there are far better options at a fraction of the cost.I understand the nib is exactly the same as the cheap Parker pens and as the body is made of plastic, I really don't see why it costs so much.Anyway, to the writing. The nib skips every now and then, and the ink flow isn't consistent, so all in all, not a great purchase.Really wanted to like this pen, but frankly I prefer my £6:00 Chinese TWSBI clones, which write much better straight out the box.Not recommended

A total disappointment
I was excited to get my hands on a brand new Parker 51 but that soon changed after it arrived. In a nutshell there is no quality in this pen, in every aspect it just feels like a budget pen. Firstly the plastic looks and feels very cheap and I can only see it getting scratched up very quickly. Secondly the screw thread cap just won’t last, a metal cap and a plastic body, they should have stayed with the original clip design. Thirdly and the worst part for me is the nib, it looks like a generic nib that wasn’t designed for the pen which would explain why it fits so badly, and not flush to the body of the pen. Fourthly the clip on the pen also just looks cheap, nothing like the original. Thank you to Amazon for making returns so easy, the pen arrived today and is going back tomorrow.
