5.0 out of 5 stars Saved my grade and actually made PM interesting: Best $25 I’ve spent all semester I’m a senior business major who put off taking the required Project Management course until the very last possible semester (classic move). Everyone told me the class was dry, the textbook was awful, and the PMP-style exam questions were brutal. Panicked, I grabbed this “Project Management All-in-One For Dummies” book two weeks before the midterm because it had way more stars than the $180 official textbook we were “supposed” to buy. Holy cow, I’m so glad I did. This book is legitimately the reason I’m currently sitting at a 96 % in the class. Why it’s perfect for students: - It combines like six books into one (initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, closing + agile stuff), so I didn’t have to buy a million separate resources. - Everything is explained like the writers know we have zero real-world experience. They use normal words, funny examples (there’s a running joke about planning a wedding that had me laughing out loud on the bus), and zero fluff. - The cheat sheets and checklists at the end of each section are gold for cramming. I literally printed the “10 Key Documents” and “Risk Register Template” pages and aced every quiz. - Actually prepares you for real certification questions. Our professor uses a lot of PMI-style scenarios, and this book has hundreds of practice questions with explanations that match almost exactly. - The Agile/Scrum chapter saved me on the group project when literally no one else knew what a burndown chart was. I’ve been highlighting and adding sticky tabs like a madwoman; my copy looks like a rainbow exploded, but I don’t even care. I went from dreading this class to genuinely enjoying it and now I’m considering getting my CAPM after graduation because the material doesn’t feel scary anymore. If you’re a college student stuck in a PM class, skip the overpriced textbook your professor wrote and just get this. It’s cheaper, clearer, and 100 % more useful. Already recommended it to half my study group; they all bought it the next day and thanked me after the midterm. Thank you, Dummies people; you turned my most dreaded class into an A and gave me a skill I’ll actually use after I graduate. Worth its weight in gold (and coffee-fueled all-nighters avoided).
