Can you turn off the vibration function? I don't need that for bow hunting and would prefer that it not vibrate.

Yes. There are separate modes of operation. Only one has vibration.

can you turn off the slope function in tournament play?

YES. Other answers to this question that say 'NO' must be referring to an older model. There is a button on the side of it you slide to turn OFF Slope mode. There is a red light on the side when slope mode is ON, so if using in a tournament, you can show this to your playing partners so they can easily see that when you are using it if the red light is not on, you are not cheating.

Where do you aim the target for m1 and m2 ....on the flag ,middle of flagpole or at the base near cup

Top of the flag, which is eye level, to give an accurate slope rating, and also is easiest to lock on to the flag vs the pole; if you aim at base you could easily lock behind or in front of cup so it won't be as precise as the actual flag, which it seperates out from the background with its flag locking technology.

Does it find yardage to other objects? Water / Sand hazards?

Yes. I’m impressed that it works so well. Mode 1 is for distancing other objects. 2 is the flag range and 3 is speed of moving objects. Great purchase.

Good value and seems to give the same results as more expensive range finders. No major issues, however, I have noticed that I get a different reading when it is aimed at the base of a flag pole to when it is aimed at the flag itself, which seems to be the correct reading. Recommended.
