I dont understand the dimensions, isnt the shape round? Why is there different width from length?

The dimensions for the medium bowl candle are 4.25''L x 4.25''W x 3.75''H.

How strong is the smell? Does it smell like a Xmas tree?

Yes it smells like a Christmas tree not overwhelming and you can put the jar lid back on I did that and will use it again this year

Can you use the lid to put out flame?

Not sure I would do that! You are supposed to dip the wick in the wax to snuff it out

Is this balsam fir candle safe as far as chemicals are concerned?

Thank you for your question. Our candles are made including pure essential oils and natural food grade wax for a clean, safe burn. We do not use beeswax in our candles, however to obtain the most realistic fragrance some of our candles may contain milk, honey or butter derivatives. There is also animal fats that are used in the production of the final product. We do use fragrance and coloring in the final product but this formulation is only 4% of the entire candle. As with any candle product, Village Candle is not 100% natural but we strive to be as close to nature as possible. I hope this helps! Nancy Customer Service
