Chemical Guys BUF505 - Torq 15DA 15mm Long-Throw Random Orbital Polisher, Safe for Cars, Trucks, SUVs, & More

The first time I saw a dual action polisher being used was in one of my locations where my buffer/detailer was using it to eliminate swirls in the finish of a black vehicle he was doing paint corrections in. He was using one of the lower Torq models but it did a great job. I have only been familiar with the traditional rotary polishers that we have been using for years for paint corrections. Now I have not used it or seen it used from 2000grit-3000grit sanding after a paint correction but I dont have any doubt it would power through it. These Dual actions dont build the same heat as a rotary so it may take a few more passes but this particular model has alot of power and good action with the long throw orbit. In a high production environment a standard rotary would be faster for your initial polishing stage after sanding, but I would use this dual action the rest of the way to achieve excellent results. I would like to see the rest of my staff have one of these in the shop to make quick work of polishing especially on dark finish vehicles. Now in my use I wanted to be able to do a good detailing on my wifes 2014 Honda CRV and wax my 2020 Tundra and our camper from time to time. This would be the typical use of most DIY'er customers on amazon. I will say this Torq polisher will get the job done with great results with minimal room for error. Rotary polishers build alot of heat and can burn through the clear coat of a vehicle EASILY. I do not recommend a rotary polisher unless you know what you are doing and just want to do the occasional detail and wax on your vehicle. The dual action does not build the same heat and is very forgiving when sliding off the panel and hitting rubber moldings and trim. a Rotary will eat up a rubber molding or plastic trim piece in a heart beat. But at the end of the day I was able to do a full restore on the finish of the Honda CRV. A good wash and clar bar is the only prep work that went into it and the results were top notch. I will say experience does play a part achieving good results. Practice in small areas and take your time. The best part? alot less likely to mar or damage your finish in the process. Thats the beauty of dual action. As for the Tundra it just came off a showroom floor and did not need to run through all the stages. Just went direct to the final wax pad and used a ceramic wax and it made application a breeze. OVERALL - Good construction, feels solid and high end. - EASY to use - Good for the DIY'er or Professional use. - Hex pads work good, feel like they would last for a long time. Make sure to clean after every use. -Still not sold on the V series compounds it comes with. I would like to use these in the shop and see how they perform. But they do work.

Great DA polisher,well balanced and has a super powerful motor which makes all detailing jobs pleasure to do. Lead could be longer but that doesn’t affect the performance,also zero vibration and low noise 👍

Excellent buffer and polisher!! I really like the adjustable speed and how it doesn’t spin when you turn it on and then can increase the speed as needed. It’s easy to use and glides across the vehicle and works into tight spaces. I’ve used it twice and looking forward to using it more.
