Great sealer. Best I have found for the price.
Like a lot of people, I was interested in putting away some food for long term storage. I researched various methods of doing so, as well as purchasing pre sealed items from various distributors. First thing I discovered was the prices are outrageous in terms of pre packaged dry goods. And the second, is that people can sure come up with creative, complicated ways to complete a simple task. This sealer looked like just the thing I needed to do things myself the easy way, and I was right. It is a very simple operation. Put bag in bucket. Pour food in bag, drop in an oxygen absorber, use this sealer to seal the bag, leave the lid off of the bucket overnight to ensure you have a good seal in the morning, then put the lid on. The savings over the cost of paying someone to do this for you and ship it to you, will cover the cost of this sealer in a very short amount of time. The sealer is very simple with only a high and low setting. It has a very generous cord length which is helpful when you are moving around and filling multiple buckets. This sealer puts a very good seal like at the bottom of most chip bags. Much better than a single line seal. It is of sturdy construction and the cord is also pretty heavy duty. Certain to last many years. It can also be used for re sealing any mylar bags such as potato chip bags etc allowing you to put a factory like seal on used products and keeping food fresh longer and saving money. A very useful product, giving a quality, factory seal you can be confident in. Easy to use. Hi setting seals heavy duty bags, and Low does a great job resealing any thin things like chip bags.

The best professional sealer, recommended by amazon seller
I'm an amazon seller, and I use this to seal jewelry boxes in poly bags, to send to the FBA, fulfilled by amazon warehouse. I burned out 2 generic impulse sealers. The impulse sealers take longer to seal and wait. I will never go back to impulse sealers. This sealer works in 1 second. Its incredible. If you are using it to seal poly bags, this is my advice. When I first used it, I set it on high, since this was what I was accustom to on other sealers. The high setting melted the plastic, and I had to use the edge of a pair of scissors to scrape it out of the grooves. I turned it off, and then later came back to finish the job. I admit, I was first disappointed at the melting plastic on the high setting. However, to my surprise, after a second attempt, and only turning on to let it heat up for 5 minutes on the low setting, it didn't melt the plastic off. It was a dream come true! And I only had to press down for 1 second. If you hold down too long on the low setting, it will melt the plastic off the edge. I prefer to cut the edge off. Its less toxic and will keep your machine cleaner by not allowing it to heat too high and melt the plastic material. I am going to try to seal the thicker metallic bags for coffee. I am so impressed with this machine. It feels so secure, sturdy, and I don't think I will be able to burn it out. It also sped up my FBA packaging time a lot. I admit, its extremely fun to seal bags with this machine, I caught myself smiling the whole time. This is the get rich quick Amazon sellers sealer! Love it, a million stars!

Works Well
I used this sealer to form a good seal around the edges of a 6mil thick sheet of Polyethylene (PE) which covered a large slab of Styrofoam used as an insert for a hot tub cover. The Styrofoam absorbed moisture from the hot tub and had to be dried out and recovered with PE. The sealer formed a tight seal. There was a lot of trial and error in figuring out the right method in using the sealer. I used the hottest setting and applied the sealer to the PE for only a few seconds. Any longer and the PE would melt too much damaging the seal. Any shorter and the PE would not melt enough. After forming a seal at one place along the PE edge, I would move the sealer to the end of the prior seal and make another seal. I would do this to form a continuous seal for several feet. One review suggested using a rheostat to adjust the voltage to the sealer. But, this did not work. Only the full heat setting (heat to both halves of sealer) worked. Just have to know how long to apply the sealer to the PE to form a good seal. This sealer was pricey, but I could not find any other similar hand-held type of sealer to fit my needs. This device is sturdy and heated uniformly across its width. Very important.

great little sealer
I researched the best cost-effective method for sealing mylar bags and came up with this. It can seal large bags by taking multiple chomps across the top. It has two heat settings so it works good for poly bags on low power too. I use a vacuum cleaner with a small attachment to suck most of the air out before sealing that last corner and use an o2 absorber to get the last remnant of o2. I guess you can use an iron to seal bags, but this sure is better and easier.

Works Excellent
I finally used this Mylar bag sealer and it worked really well. I did some long term food storage and this sealer was excellent. I tried to pull the bag apart where it was sealed, and could not. I let it warm up for about 5 minutes then used. Very pleased with it!

Sealing is so much easier with this!
Wouldn't be without this sealer! I can reseal store bought items but you cant let it heat up as high as with Mylar bags. I use it to seal bags of dogfood for emergencies. We are impressed with the complete job it does with the mylar and plan to use it til it breaks! I also discovered that "hot hands" can be used in place of the oxygen absorbers for large mylar bags as they are the same thing, just larger. I was a little taken aback by the price, but after using it, I'd pay more if I had to. GREAT product. Do be careful how you handle it and do keep it away from small children.

Worth the cost
I'm packaging up some dry goods for long term storage and decided on mylar bags inside buckets. I decided on this sealer despite the cost so I would get a good seal on the mylar bags. I'm glad I did, this was easy to use. I heated it up for 5 minutes on high to make sure it was up to temp, then gave it a good squeeze on the bag. It left a wonderful multi-row seal that doesn't leak. 4-6 seconds on 4.5mill bags. It takes a few times across a 5 gallon bag and it makes the bag pretty hot so let it cool a bit before the next part of the seal. You can make more than one row on a bag edge if you want to be double sure of no leakage. Hopefully this sealer lasts a long time!

Good value for the price, but wish temperature was more adjustable
This heat sealer is a good value for the money, designed well, and has been durable through multiple uses without any problems in its functioning. It takes about 3-5 minutes to warm-up before use, so isn’t the fastest but I’m okay with that. The one setback it has is that there are only 2 temperature settings, so you can’t adjust heat based on different materials you’re working with. It has been too hot for most Mylar or foil pouches I have. To get around this, I fold a strip of aluminum foil over the part of the pouch I’m heat-sealing, and this has protected the bag from excessive heat melting, stripping, shrinking, or damaging the bag material.
