Outstanding!
Got this roughly 24 hours after ordering, typical Amazon awesome, put it together and set it up in about 20 seconds, and hey, it's ready for wet clothes! This thing feels mighty solid and sturdy. The instructions state this will hold a total of 30 pounds (4 on each top arm, 6 on each middle arm), and I believe it...though I don't have any plans to test that. I only have a dozen or so shirts I need to hang to dry on the rack, along with a few not-dryer-friendly items. I have several T shirts that I don't want to iron, so I run them in the dryer on Very Low for 30 minutes, then remove them while still warm and hang them up to dry the rest of the way. This keeps them unwrinkled enough to get by, because, hey, they're T shirts, saves a little energy/money, and ensures the money I spent on a nice iron and ironing board is completely wasted, which pleases me greatly. Ah, the life of a single guy... Back to the tripod. Once the grueling 20 second assembly is complete, this thing collapses with ease, with the arms and tripod legs folding with the push of a button. It can then be stuffed into a dark corner until needed. Simply pull it out, open it like a weird 3-way umbrella until it clicks, and go on a laundry-hanging frenzy. For quicker drying a small fan can be aimed up under the clothes, and for those dryer-deprived folks, a small room heater can quicken things up even more. This is a huge step up from hanging things from various pantry handles and curtain rods (single guy), and it beats letting them dry outside, where get messed up by the sun, smog (Los Angeles), and idiot neighbors who decide just then to mow their crappy dirt-patchy weedy dog-poopy lawn and kick up a bunch of dust and grass particles and God knows what else. Highly recommend! CS UPDATE 08/07/2016 Yesterday I saw it leaning. It broke. It lasted 3 years. I treated it gently, however I moved three times, and I used it quite a bit. I doubt I saved enough money in gas and electricity to pay for this. I know I've saved enough in wear and tear on my clothes to pay for this, as well as the time saved in ironing. The part that broke was the lower hub that holds the retainer arms that keeps the legs from swinging out. As usual, buying replacement parts for things like this is a non-starter. I could probably fix it, and I just might, but I'm ordering another one anyway. It'll be nice to have two. I still recommend this item!

A SUPERB CLOTHING DRYING RACK
This is absolutely phenomenal. This is a rack that accomodates a remarkable amount of clothing in a small space. Shirts pants blouses, undies the works! i us the waterproof hangers (MINE ARE RUBBER) that are soace savers in a coset, and they work very well with the holes in the clothing rack arms, but there are a number of ways to hang sruff on it. This is a very sturdy rack and balanced securely. My stuff came our very neat and did not need pressing. Then the rack folds after use into a low profile that can be conveniently stored fully or partially broken down- i preferred to leave the legs connected and it is about the size of a hand held umbrella in width, and with legs on it's 61.5 inches tall (just over 5 foot).

Weight limit but still love it!
This is my third one in 6 years, approximately. I am very happy with this product. Easy to assemble, foldable but does have a weight limit. I have loaded it too much and the feet pop off. Otherwise I wouldn't have to keep purchasing. LOL 😆

Excellent for the Money Spent
You have to balance everything just right or it will tip over - but it works well once you get used to it. It collapses well and is easy to put in an out of way place. I have only used it about 10 times so I am not sure how durable it is, it seems a little cheap in the assembly. So far, so good, and so far worth the money I paid for it. Update in Feb 2012: Product is still going strong. Seems to be durable - I have probably overloaded it and it has not failed to stand. The collapsing mechanisms seem to be holding well too. Bumped from 3 stars to 4 (would give it 5 if it had more stability). Update in Feb 2014: ... and I finally killed it. For the money, it is worth it. The supports for the legs broke off when one leg got stuck in the track. This was the final problem that is making me throw it away. About a year ago the locking assembly that holds the top to the bottom wore out but it was easy to screw them together since I stored it in a closet where it didn't matter how tall it was.

Can't live without it
I needed something temporary to hang my clothes on while the dryer is broken and after reading many comments on this item I decided to bite the bullet and buy it. At the time I think I paid $32.00 for it which wasn't bad considering replacing a dryer is a few hundred. Pros: 1) Light weight. 2) My items are dry in hours. 3) It's collapsible and comes apart in a cinch for easy storage. 4) It holds a RIDICULOUS amount of clothes on it. I have a massive double washer and I can hang about two double washer loads on this thing just fine. 5) It's cost effective and Eco friendly at the same time (if you care about that). 6) It's decent looking so it's not a hideous beast you need to rush to hide if a quest comes over. 7) The top tier is height adjustable which is great. I'm a tall woman standing at 5'8 and I can hang my pants off the top very easily. I always hated drying racks I have to bend over for. 8) It doesn't take much space at all even loaded up with clothes. 9) It has two tiers for hanging stuff on. Each tier has 3 arms and each arm can hold 11 hangers if you really wanted it to but I only bother hanging maybe 5 or 6 on each arm. Each arm has a wavey groove on the top of the arm for each hanger and a hole between each wave under neath for what I am assuming is more hangers. At the end of each arm is a hook like feature which I am sure is there to hold your hangers when you aren't using them but I just hang more clothes off that too. Cons: Can't find one. Some people have mentioned that it seems a little unsteady, if you load down one side more than all the others with clothes of course it will be a little wobbly. A little smarts is all it takes to balance it out easily enough. I haven't had any problems with this product at wobbly so I can't really say what that's all about. I wasn't expecting much from it when I unpacked it...I thought for sure it would break in no time but months later and it's performing beautifully with no cracks or breaks anywhere. I love this product!

if only I'd known
Bought this based on the recommendations of other reviewers. I've only had this about a week but I love it. Earlier this year, I tried for ages to find the very capacious Leifheit air dryer i used when I lived in Europe recently, but it would have had to be shipped from the UK, so I gave that a pass. Had I only known about this 2-tier tripod air dryer, I wouldn't have bothered looking for the other one. This has a very small footprint, but it's so well designed and sturdy that it holds a lot. Although you need to remember to put things on in sensible way so that the weight is distributed more or less evenly. For the small amount of $$ difference between the two, I would say it's definitely worth it to get the two-tier model. The bottom arms are roughly 40 inches from the ground. One could easily put one of those small gadgets with multiple clasps (for bras and such) on the end slot. Before this air dryer any of our clothes which weren't put in the electric dryer would be festooned around randomly -- hung off over-the-door hooks, on door knobs etc. Not very attractive decor. It would be great for apartments or condos which lack outdoor area. I'm lucky that I have a deck and a garden (and I live in California), so I will usually be able to set mine up outside. Again, it's so compact that outside it doesn't intrude on your view, but still sits firmly on grass. At night I bring it in and it only needs about a 5 foot diameter area. Regarding set up -- takes roughly 20 seconds. It is so incredibly light weight that a five year old could easily carry it (and any five year old I know would love to spend ages hanging things on it, so hey, it doubles as a kids' toy). Our laundry area is just a washer and dryer behind folding doors. I do also have a large telescoping upside-down umbrella type air dryer which sits in a stake outside, but we haven't been in this house long and I haven't set it up. Now I don't feel a rush to do so. My daughter is going backpacking in Thailand soon and we washed her silk sleep sack and mosquito net and then carefully hung them over the tripod dryer (at different times). There was no fear of either catching or ripping on the tripod arms because they -- and all the parts -- are finished so well and so are very smooth. Recommend enthusiastically.

I can’t believe it’s rated above a 4
For my application, which is to bring it camping and hang a wetsuit and some towels and a bathing suit, I found it to be nothing but junk. I think it’s rated a 4.4 and I just don’t know how but maybe those very nice people aren’t trying to use it the way I was trying to use it. It takes up a lot of space, it feels flimsy, I’ll give you the little wetsuit especially wet can be heavy but I ended up having to drape it over the top which I could just drape it over a Rock or my RV to be honest with you so I’m sitting here in my beach chair leaving a campsite getting ready to throw a trash bag away and I am literally, not kidding you, getting ready to throw this product away because I have no need for it and no need to try to keep it any longer.

Great Product
I recently started steaming my shirts at home to save money on dry cleaning. However, I've struggled to find something to hang the shirts on while steaming that was the right height, stable, and allowed me to easily manipulate the shirts while I steamed the front, back, and both sleeves... Not knowing what I was looking for, I started scouring Amazon and randomly stumbled upon the Household Essentials Collapsible Indoor Tripod. Given the positive reviews and reasonable price, I decided to give it a shot... This has proven to be a great solution. It's sturdy, the perfect height, doesn't take up much space, and is the perfect height. The tripod arrives in 2 pieces (2 poles -- 1 with an attached base with collapsible "legs" and the other with collapsible "arms" to hang things on). The 2 poles slide together quite easily in about 2 seconds and there's a small latch that will lock the poles together so that you can move the tripod in one piece--even if there are clothes hanging from the tripod. The "legs" and "arms" both collapse at the touch of a button to save space while storing. I've found that the tripod fits easily in most closets just by collapsing the arms & legs and that I don't even need to disconnect the two poles. One word of caution--Remember to use the latch to lock the poles together before moving the tripod--especially if you have clothes hanging from it. Otherwise you will lift the upper pole right out of its base. The tripod is easy to both move and store. It also seems like it can hold substantial weight, because I used it to air dry about 10 button down shirts and several pairs of khaki pants after steaming... Definitely worth the price!

Does not work
The hanger can only be used for three of the six parts and if the clothes are heavy it just lowers itself. Very disappointed.

Weight not balance
Need to be careful and spread out what you hang across the spokes or it will tumble over due to weight imbalance

Very Sturdy, Great design
This is one of the best designed products for a small home. The quality is very good. It is quick and easy to put up and away, holds lots of wet clothes and is very sturdy. I kept the box and pop it back in and store under the bed. I highly recommend it if you are looking for something highly function, durable and takes up very little space. Perfect for the mimalist urban lifestyle.
