Q: Is this dartbaord primarily constructed of metal? Is it sturdily made?

The target area is metal since the darts are magnetic. The outer trim is plastic. We have it hanging from a heavy wire and it is used by our 8 grandkids from ages 3 - 10. Seems to be holding up well at this point.

Q: what are dimensions of board? 12 inches? 15? 18?

17.5 x 15 inch reversible rollup dart board

Q: Can these be used outside?

Yes. I would not leave the board outside; but the great thing about it is that you can carry it with you and hang it anywhere.

Q: Is this a good game for an 8 year old?

Yes. We bought it as a birthday present for our 11 year old but he has brothers— 12, 8 & 4– who all love it!
