We had a problem with out 2011 Silverado 5.3 and pinned it down to the alcohol % being too high. I am a retired GM Master tech but no longer have access to a Tech 2. After figuring out the problem we ordered the FOXWELL scanner as it's bi-directional and got the job done. The screens were easy to navigate, the data stream worked very well and this scanner was real easy to use. I got this as we already had the regular FOXWELL scanner for my other cars. Great scanner for the money, get it for your GM car or truck, you won't regret buying it.

I bought this to aid in basic maintenance for my C8 Corvette. It allowed me to run the transmission flush procedure prior to me changing the filter at home. Saved me $1,000 to do it at the stealership.

Used this tool on a 2014 Chevy Spark. StabiliTrak light was on with a code for the Brake Pedal Position Sensor. The part was only $20, but you can't just throw a new sensor in. The replacement sensor has to be calibrated to the car, or the light stays on and the system will not work. This tool allowed me to view all faults in the car, clear them, and learn in the new Brake Pedal Position Sensor. Only complaint is the menus are a bit confusing, and it took me some time to find what menu the correct "learn" option was in. The BPP Sensor is learned in the Body Control Module, and I needed to select "yes" that the Spark had GMLAN to access it. Once I figured that out, the whole operation was done in a couple minutes. Probably paid for itself already since I'm sure the local GM dealer would have charged at least 2 hours to do it. Definitely will use it again if I come across another GM that needs specialized diagnostics.

I have hesitated writing this review until after I made repairs to my 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali. The front magneride struts went bad on my vehicle and I was told I would need to do a "Trim Height Relearn Procedure after I replaced the struts. This scan tool performed great and completed the relearn in a matter of seconds which made me happy since the dealer wanted more to do the same procedure as this scan cost. I like the display on the Foxwell NT510 Elite which is easy to read and operate. If you can operate a iPhone you can operate this scan tool. The only downside I have with this product is the confusion during setup on should I register or do I need to register or is the unit already registered? Some of the instructions contradict themselves but overall it's a great scan tool for a DIY'er like myself.

Bought this unit after consulting with Foxwell and they assured me that it would do a crankshaft relearn, but found out after returning for a refund from them telling me my model 2008 Cadillac SRX does not have 'relearn' capability. I know that is a bunch of bull because I have a Service Manual that explicitly says to do a relearn on this yr model if you change the crankshaft sensor which I replaced. There was no issue on the refund but I would find it hard to recommend this to anyone with a similar make & model Cadillac. One caveat they (Foxwell) told me that it would do a relearn on a 4.6L but that is bull hockey also as I looked and tried to run it saying I had a 4.6L. Mine is a 3.6L.

Apparently this is the 2nd one I bought. I sent the last one back because the unit seemed slightly used and I had forgotten about that. I bought the regular scanner from FOXWELL because of that, the 310 series or something, and it's been just fine. Fast forward to now 03/28/2026 - I needed one that was bi-directional so I could reset my Alcohol content that was at 59.5% due to the cold climate I'm currently in, and the P-0172 and P-0175 codes that popped up. I changed the air filter, cleaned the mass air flow sensor, changed both O2 sensors upstream, and the coolant temperature sensor also. Then I cleared the codes & reset the alcohol content before starting it up. (I used all AC-DELCO parts) Everything was PERFECT when it started up without the massive choking it had before, and has ran like brand new since. My Yukon was sick and needed help. lol The Foxwell 510 (GMC Specific) worked perfectly...it took a second to figure out the auto vin number, but once I did, everything else fell right into place. If you have the SLT, just push yes on all the questions it asks you, that's just what worked for me. The SLT is pre wired for everything it asked about. So the entire project was about an hour, and that included re-reading the steps to reset confidently. I also reset the fuel trim ratio... forgot about that. Once you're on the list of functions, it only takes a few seconds...you'll see all it does and it's pretty self explanatory, imo. I would definitely recommend this and the other ones they have since both of my Foxwells work and do what I need, and more. Plus they returned the other 510 I got last year without any problems...I honestly never used it because I was turned off from what appeared to be a pre used one. Im weird like that. This one came in a box and everything was in it... and like I said, I'm extremely happy with it because it saved me easily around $500.00 from that repair that would have only taken them seconds to do. The dealer wanted $280 an hour up here in Alaska. I almost called them a bad word, but I was nice about it and just spent the $189 for this 510 unit. 😂

P0172 code on a 2009 Buick Lucerne Flex Fuel LGD 3900. I had a cheap scanner that only told me the code, and nothing else. I replaced the O2 sensor and did not fix the problem. I replaced the MAF and the Fuel Injectors and did not fix the problem. I replaced the MAP sensor and did not fix the problem. Finally I read on the internet that there is an issue with older GM FlexFuel engines where the ECM firmware gets stuck on a high percentage of alcohol in the fuel and so the vehicle runs on rich fuel trim, then the high O2 reading causes the long term fuel trim setting to pull it back and eventually reach higher than 25% setting the MIL. Disconnecting the battery and touching the terminals together just does not work, it does not reset the fuel composition. Leaving the battery disconnected for half an hour does not work. None of this will reset the fuel composition. I purchased this Foxwell NT510 Elite after becoming bewildered with the range of options available and I can tell you it works for this function in spite of some of the reviews indicating otherwise. I connected it without updating it at all and it read the fuel composition as 64% fuel alcohol content even though it's never had anything more than 10% ethanol fuel in it. I reset the fuel alcohol content and it worked.

THIS IS NOT THE "ELITE MULTI-SYSTEM" UNIT. THIS IS THE "ELITE WIRELESS." Support calls the latter its "optimized" upgrade. Only the former comes with a card reader, an SD card and a TF port on the unit. As of this write-up, support admits Amazon product descriptions and Foxwell web site details are need of correction and updating and the "User Manual (PDF)" link here opens the Multi-System manual. WIRELESS will not work with the current Windows PC Fox Assist tool where it will prompt to insert the micro SD card. USB is for power only (wall wart, power bank, etc.). If you do plug it into a PC, it powers up and mounts as an ADB Interface. I contacted support to report all this and they replied "Please insert the SD card to the card reader and connect to the computer." When I replied and informed the unit has no SD functionality (or TF port) they replied, "We suggest that you purchase a new SD card." An account with Foxwell is required to update the WIRELESS via Wi-Fi. The WIRELESS is a stand alone unit. As mentioned, the Fox Assist tool is useless - currently FoxAssistSetup_V2.08.003_2024-03-28_154233.exe. There will be no version for the WIRELESS unit. And while you can register your unit upon logging into your account in a browser, there will never be data present in that user interface other than your registration status, name/address. You will always be using the unit itself to read your data. The only way to find out if there are any software or firmware updates it do an update. Believe it or not, there is no screen to report what version of Chevrolet or GM, etc. software or firmware it's running. Be forewarned, the on-screen keyboard will drive you insane as you tediously use the cursor, back and F keys to kludge your way back and forth across several keyboards (upper case alpha, lower case alpha, numbers, characters). There is no screen where the MAC address is displayed, nor is it listed on the unit. So if you have a router/access point ACL (access control list), you won't be able create an allowed device entry. You'll need to disable access control, allow the unit and re-enable access control. I now make a hotspot on my google "phone" with name 510 and password 1234; when I'm done with the update, I remove it and disable hotspot. (Your phone should show the MAC address - write it in your manual.) When connected to Wi-Fi, you can email reports to an email account. Selecting for a long complex password will make you scream as will kludging to @ and dot(s) in between your user name and domain. Worse yet, the next file you want to email will require kludging the password again. Powering up the NT510 WIRELESS, you'll have to enter the address and password again. As well, you use the same keyboard insanity to name data files you want to save. As I'm just a casual DIYer and I wanted something more sophisticated data to examine (and maybe reset stuff, eventually) for my 2024 Chevy SUV than the NT301 (which doesn't need an account and USB mounts as a COM device) I used for years on my 2003 pickup, I will keep this WIRELESS as it's dedicated to GM. And it does update OK and recognizes my VIN and auto-scans thoroughly. In that respect, its price point is acceptable. All that said, support was timely in their response, as helpful as possible and promised corrections to the Amazon listing and web sites.

Works perfectly on my Chevy Silverado 2500 HD LML. Can read everything in the truck. Engine, chassis, brakes etc.
