Why didn't this work for late 2009 imac 27" as a monitor for macbook pro 13" 2019? using same mdp cable for target display mode on 2012 macbook pro.

I couldn't get this adapter to work for me either. I sent it back and got the CHOETECH adapter, which is working perfectly.

Will this work with Apple Thunderbolt Display?

Sorry, it will not. Mini DisplayPort is quite different from Thunderbolt 2. This usb-c to mini-displayport adapter does not support Apple thunderbolt display. It support Apple Mini DisplayPort display!

I found other adapters on the market only compatible with iMac 2017, is it compatible with 2019 iMac?

Yes, our adapter adopts more expensive chipset to achieve the better compatibility, makes it perfectly compatible with more devices, so this USB Type-C/ Thunderbolt 3 to mini DisplayPort adapter both supports iMac 2017/2018/2019!

Will this work for usb-c on a dell xps 13?

Yes, this type-c mini display port adapter will work.
