I bought these to use as a temporary solution while I decided what expensive blinds to buy and I loved them so much, they are my permanent blinds! Pros: - blackout is excellent, really makes the room dark - they work amazing on leaky old windows for thermal regulation. They block hot sunlight, keep out heat, and in the winter block the cold! - very easy to raise and lower although I wish they came with a tab to hold. I bought some separately and they work ok. - they look high end and professional! High quality! Cons: - the tape is not sticky enough. I bought gorilla mounting tape and that works amazingly - could use pull tabs, just a minor gripe - if you do not trim both ends equally, they rest at an angle when pushed up. This is my fault as the instructions do say to trim both ends!

Pros: + Inexpensive compared to most window covering options. + Can easily trim to a custom size. + Easy to install without ruining window frames/walls with mounting brackets. + Smooth operation up/down without cumbersome cords. + Blocks out sun very well. Cons: - Cannot be fully deployed down with open window, cause the air flow will push/pull on them. - Mine is sagging/drooping to one side and there's no way to fix it. This is the only reason these aren't rated 5 stars. Even with this being a "problem" I will continue to replace my window shades with these ones in the future.

I have several windows with these shades- both the blackout and standard "paper" variety. I installed the first batch three years ago and I couldn't be happier. They had been intended as temporary but they work so well I just decided to stick with them. I purchased another in mid march this year and it installed as easily as the others, however a couple of weeks after hanging it, the outer coating separated from the foil inner layer (as you can see in the picture). Had I not installed several of these units earlier I might have chalked it up to poor installation, but I believe it is product defect. Unfortunately I was well past the 30 day return policy- I did not install them immediately after they arrived because as any carpenter or handyman can attest, your own home gets fixed last. So, I can't give this product a five star rating, even though it probably deserves one (at least a 4), when one out of the 8 sets that I installed delaminated. It's still a remarkable product, easy to use with shocking longevity that is above what is advertised. They are tricky to cut- the whole see-saw kitchen knife method is iffy and almost dangerous, but I find that prescoring with a good utility blade helps significantly. I recommend it, but make sure you install ASAP if you get the blackout model as you may need to return it.

Not a big investment and still delivers the expected result. Looks nice and it’s really, really easy to install. You need to have the proper tool to trim it. The rooms get really dark and helps controlling the temperature as well. The only minor issue is that, when opening or closing, it gets uneven - one side slightly higher then the other - and that doesn’t look the best. However, if you open/close pulling exactly in the middle, it should work well. Overall very good experience for the money.

It's a decent product if you can't install permanent shades that are custom fit (and cost a lot more). But my problems: 1. Quality Control is an issue. The quality of the products (I think I bought like 9-11 shades overall for my apartment), is ranges vastly from acceptable/good to terrible. Some of the shades roll down very smoothly like a permanent shade but others get stuck, become unbalanced, and I had one I bought a couple of months ago break on me while I was pulling it down. Very inconsistent and somewhat unreliable. 2. I understand the only way you can make this work is to get the customer to cut this themselves. But trying to cut it is a total pain. 3. The sticky back doesn't really stick for too long. 4. The plastic housing at the bottom feels very flimsy. 5. The plastic housing turns yellow after a year or so. Generally recommended for renters who don't want to front the money for a legit shade that's screwed into the window recess. But don't expect anything amazing.
