This item contains sulfate? Is it the same one in shampoos?

It contains sodium lauryl sulfate and it is listed as the 5th ingredient. Just to let you know, it also contains mineral oil, which I've read isn't so good for hair.  It keeps moisture out of the hair shaft, which isn't good for damaged hair. I tried this stuff on my very damaged hair and didn't get good results.  I would suggest trying something without sulfates and mineral oil.Update: I tried a great conditioner called Earth Science Olive and Avocado deep conditioner. I only need a dime size amount on my ends every few days, because I have fine, thin hair; but, I think this would work great for any type of hair. You would just adjust according to your needs. It comes in a 6oz. size which doesn't seem like a lot, but you don't need to use a lot with this.  Hope this helps :)

Can you leave it in over night?

Definitely. In fact, if your hair's naturally dry, you should leave it in all the time. But wash it regularly, then reapply Cholesterol. (If your hair's naturally oily, you shouldn't put anything in it.)

Use it as often as your hair needs it. It makes a difference if you cover your hair with A very warm, wet, wrung out towel for 15 or 20 minutes (keep  the towel hot as it cools off warm it up again)

Greetings Jessica,
to answer your question, make sure you saturate your hair completely, if its your first time it will feel somewhat weird but it works amazing, just trust the process.  After saturating your hair completely, use a little bit of hot water and lather it up real good.  Place a shower cap right on and use a hair dryer all around your shower cap to get your hair warm.  They do sell a heated shower cap but not needed the blower works well for about two to three minutes.  Immediately after the blow dryer with the shower cap on, wrap your hair in a towel to maintain the heat in for 15- 20 minutes.  Jump in shower and wash off do not use shampoo or conditioner.  or you could sleep in it and first thing in the morning wash off with warm water.
