Q: Can the lights be turned off so they don't flash or change with the music?

Yes, but they do not flash to the beat, they simply flash. The lights button sometimes shuts them off after only one press instead of the five noted in the manual.

Q: I can’t see where the program buttons are. If this is programmable, what do you press to get to your programmed stations?

The same forward and back buttons you are accustomed to use to in order to move one track forward and back on a CD, are used in the radio to move through the stations you have programmed. The manual gives clear and simple operating instructions for all features. You'll notice that there are no number buttons; that is because you step or scroll through numbers that appear on the display if you need to.

Q: I am having troubler switching from am to fm without trying multiple times. what should i do to make it easier?

I haven't had any problem. I just change back and forth using the Band button.

Q: Can you attach a speaker to these?

Yes. The player has Bluetooth and two inputs; one for earphones and one that could be used for an additional speaker.
