Pleasantly amazed!
I was honestly hesitant about buying this bike rack, particularly given the comparatively low price tag. But I couldn't justify spending hundreds on something I only needed a few times a year, especially for a bike that's old enough to vote. Since I drive a Prius hatchback, I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to find an affordable option that would work with my car – until I found this little gem! PROS: - STORAGE BAG: I love the fact that it comes with a storage bag, to keep it compact and organized when not in use. Without the bag, it would be more challenging to store and transport, particularly with all the straps involved. - EASY TO ASSEMBLE: The instructions are remarkably clear and comprehensible, with options for multiple body types. It took a little bit of study the first time to get it assembled and attached to the car (mainly because I was paranoid about doing it wrong), but from then on, it's a piece of cake. - SURPRISINGLY STURDY: I was wary about the stability of any folding/collapsible model, but when it's snapped into place and strapped to the car, it doesn't budge! – UP TO 2 BIKES: There's room for 2 bikes on this rack, although I've only used it for 1 so far. But I like that I have the option for a second bike. CONS: I only have 2 minor quibbles, but they're not big deals to me, particularly as the rack is so high quality yet affordable otherwise: - STRAP FRICTION: This one is kind of unique to the design of my car than to the bike rack, but worth considering. The straps are your standard heavy-duty ribbed design, which makes them super strong, but it also means that the straps could damage the finish on your car if they're allowed to rest against the body at any points of tension/friction. The design of my car necessitates that they rest at the point where the hatch bends from a gentle slope to being perpendicular with the road, so to avoid wear or friction damage at that point, I simply wrapped that portion of the straps with electrical tape, which seems to have worked great. - NOT AS STRAIGHTFORWARD FOR SLOPING CROSSBARS: If you're transporting a male bicycle with a [nearly] horizontal crossbar, you won't have any issues. But if you have a female bike or one with a heavily sloped crossbar, you're going to have to get creative to keep it from riding too high on the rack to be stable/secure or so low so that one side drags along the ground. There are adaptors you can buy separately to accommodate for this, although I haven't tried any of them personally. CONCLUSION: Well worth the price, and I've actually gotten a lot more use out of it than I'd initially anticipated. Highly recommended!

Gets the job done!
Made it a 8 hour drive in the pouring down rain and the bike didn’t move a muscle. Easy to install and take down. Well worth every penny.

A Circus Act that Delivers - Magical Mount for our Two-Wheeled Stallions
If you've ever seen a unicycle and a ball juggling routine in a circus act, you'd get the gist of my life. The same sense of balance and precision is what I found with the Allen Sports Ultra Compact 2-Bike Trunk Mount Rack! I grabbed this contraption for my folks to transport their two-wheeled stallions, or bikes, for my less circus-minded folks. And boy, did this mount perform as perfectly as my husband's breakfast juggling act! Our family minivan transformed into a magic carpet, whisking our engineless motorcycles to wherever the act called. Compact but sturdy, this mount carried the bikes with the ease of a seasoned acrobat. The setup was as smooth as my husband’s daring high-wire act - easy, quick, and without a single hiccup. The magic of this gadget didn't end there. It seemed to disappear into a compact carrier when not in use, like a marvellous disappearing act. And to top off the charm of this circus act on wheels, the ride came at a fraction of the cost, sort of like getting a front-row show for a backseat price! In a nutshell, this bike rack was a daring act that delivered on the high-wire of functionality and pricing - a magical addition to our family’s circus cavalcade. So here's to our next thrilling big top adventure!

Breeze to install and held through hours of highway driving
Purchased this to get my son’s bike home from college. The 2 bike rack was cheaper than the 1 bike rack and since we had hours of interstate speeds, I thought the additional straps on the 2 bike rack would be helpful. My son and I installed this in minutes on my Subaru Outback. It held his bike sturdily through 4.5 hours of 70+ mph on southern roads with questionable asphalt jobs. The hooks didn’t mar the car’s paint at all, BUT the pedals rotated during transport so that one was rubbing against the car which did scuff up the paint. I don’t know if there was a way to lock the pedals but next time I’ll try to do that.

Broken
Good and easy but one of the straps BROKE while I was driving, the bike held on with just one tire until I was able to get out of the road. I didn’t use it much and I was safely stored away while not in use. It should’ve last longer. Maybe if they sold the straps separately I would buy some.

Improves travel options
I bought this in a pinch to replace paying for a lift to and from a car repair shop. It worked great. It was easy to install and bike didn't move the whole ride. I've not tested it on a long distance trip, but the other reviews show happy campers in this regard. I'm pleased with it, and happy it folds up to a convenient stow away size.

Doesn't fit a Dodge Dart (despite being on the list) and I wouldn't trust my bike to it if it did
Amazon will not allow me to use the kind of language required to accurately describe this car rack. It is an abysmal piece of junk. I never even got a bike on it before giving up and returning it because it's absolutely not compatible with my car, despite my car being clearly printed on the compatibility chart on the box. I spent 2 weeks researching car racks and somehow managed to choose the worst possible option. The lower secure strap needs to be hooked to something under the car to give you enough room to really crank it down tight. It can't be secured on the bottom lip of the trunk because there is an elastic piece of that strap that can't be tightened too short. The bottom lip of the trunk it too close to the bottom of the rack. So you need to secure it under the car. Except my car has an aerodynamic shield under the car that hides all the undercarriage and anything you could secure it to. That means that no one at Allen Sports ever actually tried it on my car before putting it on the compatibility list. Nothing is good about it. Even if it was compatible with my car, it is NOT stable. With the feet firmly planted on the car the pieces of it have A LOT of wiggle room against each other. No matter how tight you get the feet planted on the car the various pieces of the rack are going to move around. Even if I could get it securely fastened to the car and even if the bike fit properly in the cradles, I wouldn't carry my bike on this thing. No part of me believed this flimsy design would hold up if I hit a big bump or something. Even more amazing, it didn't fit my bike! A Specialized Crosstrail top tube does not seat securely in the clamps. The rear of the tub does but the front of the tube that's flatter and wider doesn't fit. (It's been an extremely popular design for Specialized for about a decade now. And its' not an uncommon overall tube look. It's not like I have 1 oddball shaped bike) It's absolutely not easy to break down and fold back up either. It takes some kind of tool to depress the lock buttons. It CANNOT be done by hand. And when using a tool I can see how easy it would be to accidentally push the buttons too far in and get them locked permanently inside the tubes. It's heavy as a beast! It's small, but it's heavy. The item description says 6 lbs. It's more than 6 lbs. A lot more. I've bought thousands of things from Amazon over the years. This is one of the 2 most disappointing purchases I've ever made.

I LOVE this bike rack
I LOVE this bike rack. Living in a mid-rise apartment in the city, there isn't a lot of opportunity for my 8-year old niece to ride her bike around home. There are lots of parks nearby, but you have to get the bike there. This rack makes that a breeze. I had a much older bike rack that I hated. It was for two bikes but was unnecessarily large, didn't fold up properly, and had floppy velcro loops to hold the bike on that were impossible to feed through the slots to tighten them. It had four attachment points to the car, but I never felt like I could get the straps tight enough for it not to wobble...I was always worried that the hooks at the bottom that attached to the edge of the trunk would come loose, leaving it dangling by the top two hooks. This rack is tiny, easily folds up to nothing and is very easy to install/uninstall in a minute or so. It's perfect for holding one bike, which is all I needed. At first I didn't think I could get a kid's bike on it, but I found the right position and it works exactly as expected. It only has three straps to fasten to the car but I think it's more secure that way. Granted, with this one, the bottom strap goes under the car to attach to something metal. That's a trade-off vs a rack that attaches to the bottom of the trunk...you can't open the trunk when this one is installed. The lower strap also has a stiff elastic section sewn into it so you can get it really tight. I don't have to adjust the tightness of the bottom strap when the weight of the bike is put on it like I did with the old one. I have a hatchback so I was a little concerned about the way the top two supports went up against the glass. But my car has a little ledge under the back window that the top two supports of the rack sit on without touching the glass. The lower support hits the bottom of my license plate so there is no pressure on the glass at all. My car does have something of a spoiler above the rear window, but it's very sturdy and I have no problems securing the rack to the forward edge of that. Hard to explain so I'm including several photos.

Stabil und kompakt
Stabil und sehr kleines Packmass. Habe die Metall Teile noch mit Kunststoff verkleidet um den Lack zu schützen

Great sturdy fast M1
Arrived yesterday amd tried today, super fast to install veey secure, took maybe 4 mins the first time, which will get quicker now setup for our car. Fits great with the meatl anchors , and can still open the boot easily when bike is off to get the dog in and out. Check it fits your car model. We had the M1 for 1 bike, and needed to adjust the fitting for one getting to the boot opener so offset like 3cm, and the bike rests move to allow for a female version bike frame easily using 1 on am angle and one for the vertical under the seat. Great cant fault, especially as we got one that had been returned looked like they couldn't figure out how to attached to boot sill as it was all tied up! Any way was a bargain £10 less! Amazing portable product.

Good and simple one
The product is good. But it didn’t work for me. I wanted it for my Jeep Grand Cherokee 2012. I asked this question before buying and was informed it will work. But no. It’s doesn’t work. It shows in the box it won’t work. Why don’t put that pic on the box here. Anyways I have to admit that the product is good and very easy to install and remove.

Good, but needs padding
Build quality is good, but the feet are a very hard, rough plastic. There's no way these won't damage your car's paint.

¡Sorprendente!
