AnyTone Mini Size Dual Band Transceiver Mobile Radio VHF/UHF Two Way Radio AT-779UV for Car Vehicle Black

This is a very good dual band vhf/uhf, miniature mobile transceiver. With the manufacturers software installed on your computer, it is easy to enter the frequencies, repeater offsets, tones, etc. I found it small enough to easily fit into the cell phone shelf of my Honda Civic and have room for the Anytone Smart 10 meter, converted to cover 11 meter transceiver to sit above it. you cannot beat the price for the value, so I recommend that ham radio operators purchase, confidently, knowing that it will cover the amateur bands.

Love it! Works as expected. Easy to program with CHIRP! I use mine daily in my vehicle. I've had excellent audio reports. I DO recommend unlocking the radio to it's full potential!

This is actually a great radio and also Chirp programmable when using a Mac to program. The most important thing to remember make sure that when you set the radio for the band coverage you want to also make sure you match that in Chirp. Also the radio is really compact and can fit in tight places in a car or whatever vehicle you may drive.

This was a perfectly small mobile radio for a Mazda MX3. at 18w on UHF and using a 1/4 wave magmount, it does the job I wanted it to do for the local repeaters in the county. Audio out on the built-in speaker is very loud and can easily hear when driving on the open highway. Microphone element works well and did the simple mod (youtube video shows how to do this) to the opening from inside the microphone housing, to allow a more clear voice to go directly to the mic element. A couple friends who have heard firsthand how this radio performs, have since bought one as well. 3M VHB tape might be more than adequate to hold this up with the radio mounting bracket, but I still used the two mounting screws with it.

This is THE PERFECT EASY TO INSTALL Mobile Ham Radio !! It comes prewired with 12V DC ....Cigarette lighter . Its a super small, light unit...very easy to program via Chirp.... Speaker is very good but I chose to add an external speaker because I had a great spot for one. Unit is a decent power. 25 watts which for myself is perfect as my two main Repeaters are under 6 miles away so FULLLL QUIETING. Only one caveat... unit doesnt have an internal fan so if you do any prolonged TX it tends to run hot...but that is easily rectified by locating it in an open area OR on the few occasions I abuse the Repeater 😆 🤣 I run the lower AC of the Car. Hey guys this is Red W5UW here in Oklahoma... Have to say that this is clearly a five star winner, the folks at Anytone put together a solid dual band VHF/UHF mobile. The AT-779UV works as advertised, and for this price $99.00 US you just can't beat it. So go ahead poke the buttons here and get one for yourself. 73's from W5UW

I can't get away from the feeling that they all use the same firmware "One Size Fits All"?. The radio comes with a squelch setting @5. Dunno if it is 50% or what but it is factory set to 5. The specification sheet says the sensitivity is 0.25uV, however if the squelch opens at 1uV or whenever, the 0.25uV don't work this way. Until the squelch breaks, it will be deaf. So, I went and set it to 2, thought this would fix it. Now, when I key up the radios RX opens and at releasing the PTT (other radio) the squelch stays happily open. I had to raise the setting to 6 to mute white noise. Not good, at setting 2 you have non squelched white noise. A workaround maybe a RX PL tone? It will close the audio path, however another station will have to use a encode PL tone. It may work in my case. A further test allowed me to close the squelch, by using the PTT on the Anytone. Then it muted the audio path. I guess if you use the radio in Simplex, it probably will never occur or will it? I inquired with Anytone customer service to get a schematic diagram from them, that was a week ago. No response so far! I want to use it as an RX only in a repeater system. The schematic would be very helpful to find a spot to pick off discriminated audio for my external PL tone decoder. Perhaps, there would be a signal that I can use to tell a controller, Houston we have a PL tone. The project is resting at the moment until I get a response from Anytone. The radio itself has some receiver quirks, I haven't checked the transmit side, since it probably would never transmit. The good: It has the perfect size for my project. It is relatively inexpensive. It has features I am looking for. The bad: I have little hope to get a response from Anytone. I may have to butcher it on my own. Checked the receiver sensitivity. Got roughly -100dBm, I would consider this a deaf receiver. Update: it is resting without power, perhaps it makes a good $100 paperweight.

Great little radio. Perfect for moving around. Comes with cig adapter already on it. Great for price.
