"When I go low, I feel shaky, shaky, shaky!" -YES! Me too!!!
In the tradition of "Open Up Your Bag: A Diabetes", Mike Lawson came back with another Diabetes Picture Book. This time he partnered with diabetes writer extraordinaire Ginger Vieira, to bring you a book that will make any kid with type 1 diabetes feel instantly understood and hopeful. Because diabetes, due to lows, highs, and so much more, ain't fun, but you don't have to go through it alone.Jax is a the young Cat with T1D that stars in the story. He sings "When I Go Low," a song he made up. Going through town, he gets heard by others singing about how he feels when he has a low blood glucose episode. Each of them approach him, and he learns how they feel when they are low. Ultimately, he realizes that he too feels all those things. This book will also make you smile, whether you are a kid or not, if you live with diabetes and you have ever felt alone or had a low blood sugar episode. AP.S. As the hugger that I am, I loved that all the characters Jax runs into hug to say goodbye after each encounter. :)

There are lots of friendly people out there with type 1 diabetes.
I have a brother with type 1, so I wanted a kid friendly book that would help normalize the disease. I love that the character finds many friends with t1d and they all tell him how they feel and what they do when they go low. I definitely recommend this book... I think it would also be great for kids with diabetes to help them feel less alone.

A must have for T1D toddlers
I loved having a book that discussed how our kiddo feels when she is low without it being all about fear. It is a wonderful conversation starter and the illustrations are adorable. A must-have for our diabetes library!

Wonderful book!!
Adorable book that gives little ones with t1d language and story to talk about the many ways low blood sugar can make you feel! I love how Jax finds other friends just like him and how he learns about himself and finds comfort in relating to other. Such a wonderful way for t1d kids to see themselves and make those important connections between mood/energy and blood sugar, and know that it’s normal and their are others like them too! So sweet! The illustrations are adorable and brings fun and playfulness to a conversation that is often serious or stern - a must have for t1d families!!

Must have book for Kid's living with Type 1
What a great books for kids living with Type 1 Diabetes to have. For many years, when my daughter was first diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, she felt alone in living with the disease, having a book like When I Go Low, would have really helped her understand how to express how she felt when she was going low but also would have helped her know that she was not alone in this journey. Thank you Ginger and Mike for taking your amazing talents and getting a book on the market to help our kids. Must have book!
