Q: I can't see the bottom. Is it reinforced at all? Is there a more durable material on the bottom for when you set it on the ground? Or it gets dragged?

NO! It is literally not re-enforced whatsoever. When i put the backpack down i can hear my laptop hitting the ground. Why in the world they have zero padding at the bottom of the laptop slot is a mystery. I will not be returning but im going to have to make some padding to put at the bottom. Definitely consider this when purchasing this bag.

Q: Is this good for high schoolers?

If you don't have bulky binders or lots of textbooks, then yes. It's best for a more slim load out if anything.
