Q: Would these work well for Nordic skiing - classic?

They are durable, have some stretch, can be vented and waxed to repel water/snow. You will need and insulating layer underneath. I wear these mostly for hiking but would also wear for cross country skiing or snowshoeing with a warm layer.

Q: Are these womens? When i added them to my cart it stated mens

Yes. I bought them a few months ago and they are women's. Men's size in Europe go 46 and up and these are still listed as 40,42,44 so I gather Amazon hasn't changed it yet. For reference 40 is size US6 women's. Check Fjallravens website for size chart. They are fantastic pants for backpacking!
