Put lock tite on the ball screw, and this mounting plate is perfect. I have 3 of them holding each of my graphs. (2 10" & 1 9") I only use the mounting screw plate. Then I buy a ram mount base and connector since they are longer. I also don't have to worry about the metal cracking in the cold. This mount base and connector are plastic, and I wouldn't be excited about using it in late or early walleye season.

Cheaper than the name brand “ram mount”. Looks like it’ll hold up but time will tell. Again, as others have said, unscrew the ball from the mount and add locktite. Used it for the first time today and it didn’t move at all while trailering nor while on the water. If you put that loctite on it really helps. Will update after 6 months of use. UPDATE: Used this for a while, seems to hold up well. make sure you twist your fishfinder mount all the way tightened and the knob that hooks to your boat all the way tight too otherwise it will move. Took it out with 3-4 foot rolling waves, and it stayed on there.

After installing the mount, I agree with other reviews, the bolts holding the balls need some loctite. However for a mount thats half the price of the big names and seems to be made of durable material, applying a little loctite seems insignificant. I won’t complain for the price. Overall for the price, seems hard to beat…

Great mount! I have used RAM mounts for years and they are great. I needed another mount for a 5 inch garmin and thought I would try this out. Glad I saved the money and went this route. It is plastic to I wouldn't mount anything too big on it but will be great for the 5 inch garmin. In the photo, the right fish finder has a ram mount and the left is this mount. The base is plastic so it was easy to cut and modify to what you need.

The only real complaints I have were the balls were not securely mounted. Some threadlocker cured that. 2nd, with all the holes in that plate, one would expect to find 4 to line up for a helix 5 mount but nope. For the money though, I'd buy it again. Holes are cheap to drill. Its now securely mounted and I can flip it around to see it from my bow fishing seat.

Bought this for my Hummingbird Helix 5"&7". Will work great for both. It's Rugged, built to last, plenty of pre drilled holes to fit about any graph.

I HAVE HAD MANY LOCATOR MOUNTS FOR OVER $50 AND THIS LOW COST ONE IS JUST AS GOOD. I WORK ON OTHER PEOPLES BOATS AND WILL PURCHASE MORE OF THESE.

This is a great idea, but it simply will not clamp tight enough on the balls to stay in place, it slips down and it will not even hold for a second. I have a raymarine Element 7, an average size sonar and it will not hold it! This may be ok for a tiny 4 inch unit with no weight to it. I'm very disappointed with it. I'm going to try some grit anti-slip tape in the ball sockets to see if that will hold it, but I simply don't think this thing has the strength when I'm crashing waves.
