your description says: "do not use lithium ion or alkaline batteries". why no lithium ion?

The voltage of a lithium Ion battery is too high and will damage the electronics within the light. Alkaline battery leakage is the #1 cause for light failures. Thank you

What is the lumen count?

Will you produce a version of this without all the gimmicky modes? I just want candlelight mode, and low med high. In that order.

The light has 6 different mode configurations you can choose from at any time. The default is medium and high, but you can select low/medium/high if that's what you're into :) The different configurations are detailed on the product page.
