I’m looking for a gift. Is this a well known brand for chefs?

I wouldn't say its well known to chefs or that i have seen this knife in alot of kitchens but the quality, weight and the handle of this knife are the reasons i bought it. At work i use this all day long and its a work horse that stays sharp and is easy to keep an edge on it. I think that anyone getting this knife as a gift would be very happy.

What is the different between "master chefs edition", "celebrity edition" and  executive-plus "normal" version?

Master Chef and Celebrity Chef editions are special release items - both have the Japanese AUS10 45-layer Damascus steel. Master Chef has the mirror STORM-X finish and comes with the Black/Grey G10 handle (only one with this 2-tone material). The Celebrity edition has the hammered finish. The normal version is the plain Damascus pattern - both the plain and celebrity editions have the black G10 handles. Blade profiles and depths are all the same on the 8" models.

How do I sharpen these

Hi Cc, thank you for your important question.  To keep your Executive-Plus Series Utility knife edge in top shape, it must be regularly maintained. This means regular honing (after 6-8 hours of use) to keep the fine edge in alignment. For our Japanese steel knives, we recommend using a fine ceramic honing rod.  A few swipes at an angle of 9-12 degrees per side will do the trick.  Note that honing does not remove significant metal from the edge, it only removes microscopic burr and realigns the edge.  Over time and with use, you will notice that honing no longer improves the cutting performance, and at this point, the knife must be sharpened.  Sharpening removes metal and restores the sharp “v-shape” profile of the edge.  We recommend using a combination 1000/6000 grit whetstone to sharpen the blade at a 9-12 degree angle per side.  Using a whetstone is the preferred method and can be used on all kitchen knives and is definitely a skill worth learning.  If you are not comfortable using a whetstone, then we recommend using a professional sharpening service.  Thank you and I hope that this helps.

Does the company sharpen them for life?

I would doubt they offer that.  My knife arrived surprisingly dull as though that step had never been performed in the finishing process.  
And I see that others have complained about that too.
I've never had that experience with any other company I've purchased knives from....I shouldn't have to sharpen it at all
until its been through a lot of use, particularly if you have to go to the expense of having knives professionally sharpened.
At the very least it indicates poor quality control.
