How much weight can these hinges handle ?

Well I didn't dangle a car off of these, but they are sturdy enough for whatever small project you might have in mind. I used these as hinges for a door panel about 18 inches high and 16 inches wide at about (i'm guessing) 4 pounds. These are nice and should do the job for you. To swing them apart however, you do have to get them beyond 90 degrees, so that's a consideration you should include in your choice of these.

Could these be used for a screen door?

I don't think the hinges are sized large enough to support a door, and if the door hinges on the side, I don't think the door would stay attached as it swings. They are for smaller things like guitar cases and other carry items.
