I was a little apprehensive at first because the cloth diapers my son had just grown out of were a different brand and type. Since I was used to them, I wasn't sure how I'd adjust to pocket diapers.So far, I love them, and I have 46 of them that get my son through 9 days altogether. I bought 12 on amazon, and the rest I've gotten at our local baby thrift. Since they are reusable, they are donatable, too.I use these paired with biodegradable bamboo liners to catch the poop, which help a lot even though they don't always catch all of it.But I do have some advice. I see mommas on TikTok all the time going over their cloth diapering routines and diaper washing routines. There is a chick on there who spends 9 hours washing her child's diapers, and I gotta tell you, it does not need to be that convoluted.1 People worry about the smell, but if you rinse the poopy ones right away, they don't smell bad. Just a little musty when they pile up. I've literally never had a stinky diaper bin, I don't know what y'all are doing wrong. Just make sure that you remove the poop and rinse both the liner outside the pocket, and the diaper.2 I've also found that if you rinse them, you don't have to do any special stain removal system because the marks will come right out during the wash in the machine. This may be due to the fact that the fabric is acrylic and literally cannot stain, but if you let the poop dry, it will get stuck in the fibers and will be visible. Do your baby's butt a favor and just rinse right away, or fold the diaper closed so you can rinse as soon as you are able before that night.3 Only use a couple tablespoons of soap. Too much soap builds up even through the rinses and irritates baby's skin. I've learned that my son's diapers look clearer and fresher when I use less soap. I know it seems like it should be the other way around, but trust me.4 Never use dryer sheets! Get a couple wool balls or something, just never put any kind of clothing conditioner or softeners on them. They also coat the liners and make them less absorbant. Baby skin does not like that.5 Two rinses in the machine is enough if you have a machine that allows you to customize that. One is usually fine, but if you are worried, go for two. It won't hurt.6 If you have time, dry on medium heat. High heat can degrade the structural integrity of the elastic that goes around the legs. I haven't ruined any so far, but I have found some second hand that had no stretch at all anymore and were essentially useless. I got them because I needed some extra and that's all they had. I put a vinyl panty on top because they leaked the entirety of a single pee immediately. Granted, those were not ALVA, but it's best to be cautious to high heat drying.If you have any questions, holla. My son is 11 months old tomorrow (March 2), and cloth diapering has been one of the best decisions I have made for our little family. It just takes a bit of getting used to the routine, and considering the average parent spends $900 on diapers per year per child, I think I dodged a very expensive bullet. They truly do pay for themselves.

I use Alvababy and Happy Flute cloth diapers.I'll try to give as much info as possible on my experience so far (we've been using cloth diapers regularly for about four months). I spent the first three months of my pregnancy researching everything cloth diaper. I was super overwhelmed and it turned out most of the info was a bit extra or didn't work for us. You have to try different things because in the end what works for some babies doesn't work for all. Also, water types and washing machines vary as well.So...here we go...First, what I like about Alvababy diapers: They are great double stuffed for bedtime. At bedtime I put two pads inside the pockets of baby's diaper for extra absorbency, and the Alvababy diapers seem much more comfortable to wear double stuffed. Our baby always sleeps in Alvababy diapers at bedtime. The Happy Flutes seem too bulky when double stuffed. I also love that Alvababy comes with so many pads, no need to buy separately.Now what I don't like about Alvababy: Alvababy diapers don't have enough stretch in the waist. When in Alvababy our baby is more likely to spit up when put into a sitting position. I love the stretch the Happy Flute diapers have. Compared to Alvababy, I noticed Happy Flute has more give in the waist and leg area. This is especially important to me when putting baby in the carseat or sitting in general. Also, I don't like that the PUL fabric is not at the inside top of the diaper as well. I feel that baby has more leaks from the top/belly area, especially when baby in laying on me while feeding and napping. I also don't like the snap layout on Alvababy compared to Happy Flute. There are less snaps making fewer size variations around the waist, as well as, length wise.When baby has a rash, I line the diapers with one Wegreeco disposable liner to protect the diaper from creams, as they do ruin absorbency. The Wegreeco liners do a great job!I have hard water. I use one scoop of Rockin' Green Cloth Diaper detergent per one days worth of diapers. I usually wash diapers everyday, with one scoop. If I skip a day, I use two scoops. I run a rinse and spin cycle, followed by a wash cycle. My wash cycle is like this: hot water, full spin, heavy soil, 2- 3 extra rinses (depending on how many poop diapers). *I tried washing in cold water every other day and the ammonia smell built up and was terrible, we had to strip the diapers which was stressful. For heavy stains, I put the diapers or pads in full sun for an afternoon and it clears up. I also use silicon agitator balls to knock loose any extra gook. I hang dry diaper shells and machine dry pads.We have a bidet sprayer attached to our toilet to spray poop off diapers. We do this in/over a bucket then dump and flush.Lastly, I have (2) Wegreeco Large Reusable Hanging Wet Bags (one in use, one in wash) to store dirty diapers.I know this is a ton of extra information, but I hope it helps someone who may be feeling overwhelmed or discouraged. I didn't use cloth diapers with my first two and I wish I would have. Doesn't fit a newborn but there are some hacks that make it fit better. Once the baby hits 3-4 weeks though it's good. The extra insert helps as well! Cute prints :)

I’ve been using these diapers for about 3 months now. I was very hesitant to cloth diaper at first, but these were such a good price that I bought the least expensive pack of AlvaBaby diapers to give them a go. I immediately preferred them over disposable diapers, mainly because they were so soft compared to disposables! I had never thought about how uncomfortable it must be to have that scratchy papery material against your skin, especially as a new little baby.I liked the first pack that I bought so much that I got another pack or two, and then ordered the rest from AlvaBaby’s website, since they have lots more options and are slightly cheaper. (They do take a week or two to get to you, though.) I have 35 diapers total, and wash them every night in hot water with Tide powder. They’ve held up perfectly, and don’t even have any stains! (The Tide does help tremendously with stains).The reason I docked a star was because these say they fit to 35 pounds, but I don’t think that’s going to happen for us. My 4.5 month old weighs 18.5 pounds, and is already on the end snaps on the wings. I’m hoping they’ll make it through the first year, and maybe we can potty train early, since he’s already very aware of his dirty diaper. I’ll update as needed.Another reason that I docked a star was because a couple of the diapers will leak at the stitching. I don’t understand why it’s only some, but I’ve noticed it several times before.Overall, I love these diapers. They’re so cute, and do a very nice job of containing even the most blow-out-y situations.*Update*They are still in perfect condition, after about 6 months of daily use and nightly washings. I am updating to 5 stars because he now weighs 22+ pounds, and the snaps seem to be adjusting as he grows. We snapped up to the middle size, so the belly and leg snaps were able to go down one snap; difficult to explain, but I believe these will fit fine for as long as we need them. The occasional slight leak doesn’t seem worthy of docking a star because disposable diapers blowout so much, and these have never blown out. It’s not often that they leak either, especially with bamboo inserts. We love these diapers!
