the item is extremely heavy for my mom (74 year age). She could only use it for 10 min and after that start feeling the extreme weight. Plus the item is non returnable, so she is stuck with this. Not happy with the product.

Bought this for my 80 year old mother who is coming off a broken shoulder and it works great for her. A tad on the heavy side if one arm isn't working great but there isn't a way to avoid that if you want something that covers the neck and shoulders and holds a decent amount of heat. Doesn't smell bad to me or her but one of her friends thinks it stinks. The box says aromatherapy so I think it is mildly scented with something but clearly not all noses are created equal.

Do make sure to follow the heating instructions – the first time I used it, I overheated slightly (went past the recommended time) and it was almost too hot to handle. Now I stick to the guidelines and it’s perfect. As a safety habit, I always let it sit for a minute after microwaving to let any hot spots even out. Also, if you’re sensitive to scents, the lavender is noticeable but I personally find it pleasant and not perfumey.
