From Everest to Enlightenment - An Adventure of the Soul
A**T
Informative and autobiographical . . .
A story about mountain climbing is not a book I would typically read, but I thoroughly enjoyed this one. It is written more from the perspective of the inner experience of the author/climber than that of historian detailing a blow-by-blow depiction of the event. In an interesting personal style, Alan Hobson lays out the many challenges involved in making the Mt Everest ascent happen - the preliminary work; the partners involved; the previous failures; his own physical, mental and spiritual challenges as a seeker of adventure and a climber, and it is punctuated throughout with relevant inspiring passages from the writings of others. As much as, or more than, the mountain climbing story, what I enjoyed is what it revealed about Alan Hobson himself.
