It is too early to see how quickly it will rust. It is well made and relatively easy to install. On the plus side, the plastic threaded piece that attaches to the water line can be switched installed on either side of the drinker. The cons are that you can't hook a standard hose up to to this drinker without purchasing an adapter, and the back of the drinker is not flat. Unless you put shims behind it, it hangs at an angle and leaks constantly.

I bought this to water horses, a cow, goats, and dogs on our farm. It looks big enough for the horses to get their faces in, which was a concern of ours. However, it doesn't come with any mounting hardware, and the holes are larger than your average screw. So make sure you get washers at your next hardware store run. Also, the holes for mounting are wider than your average fence post. We had to screw in a spare piece of wood first. Also, there's no hose. Here in the US, your standard garden hose is 5/8", and the hose attachment for this is 1/2". It hasn't been easy finding an adapter, so we still haven't been able to use this as it's intended.

Filed rough leading edge of waterer and glued tubing to fill the open gap under the lip to avoid possible injury as mentioned by previous reviewer. The polished stainless finish and float are really nicely done.

Perfect for our pack of crazy dogs. Plumbed into our R.O. system so they always have freshwater!

I wanted to like this. I had to run a water line to the area. Turned on the water. The float system leaks. Why do they sell junk

I bought four of these for my horse barn. I can't trust them. Somedays it seems they work and then you walk into the barn and they are either overflowing, or the bowl has no water in it. I had little Giant brand for years and could always rely on them even if adjusting the float was fiddly. I thought stainless would be better and a screw on the plastic float easier to adjust, but these plastic floats just are not reliable. One no longer turns off at all. I will have to remove all four and throw them away.

Works perfectly as a small self filling swimming pool for very tiny gnomes that inhabit the imaginary village. Also serves as a dog watering bowl, much to protestations of the feisty gnome leader before his unexpected disappearance which seemed to coincide with Fido gaining half a pound.
