These calipers are great - it's easy to find 6", but harder to find affordable 12". These are sturdy and accurate.

After just two uses, the calipers completely died, rendering them useless for any further measurement tasks. If you're looking for reliable and durable digital calipers, I suggest exploring other brands and models that have a better track record for quality and customer satisfaction. This is an excellent tool for your average DIYer, weekend mechanic - and as a backup for a professional machinist. I needed a set of relatively inexpensive large calipers for setting up the initial adjustment for a set of coil-overs (Ohlins) for my car. Initially, I went down the street to a Harbor Freight and bought their Pittsburgh brand 12” calipers as I thought they were relatively inexpensive, and would be accurate enough for what I needed them for. Those lasted through the setup for the first two struts - then they would randomly (and annoyingly) turn off and then on, erasing measurements and tripling the number of measurements needed. The zero would also change, by simply breathing on the darn things. What would expect for $45, right? I took them back and started shopping for a better set. I decided on these VINCA calipers based on the volumes of positive reviews and the relatively low number of negative reviews. Surprisingly, these calipers were less expensive than the Harbor crap ones - while offering more features. So far they have worked flawlessly with incredibly repeatable results. I was very impressed and decided to bring them to a friend’s machine shop to see how close they read compared to a set of calibrated professional calipers. They were well within the advertised tolerances advertised. Enough so that it impressed a professional! I’ve used these calipers numerous times over the course of my car’s build, including likely near 100 measurements - and these calipers have stayed true and proven durable so far. I have gone back to verify previous measurements made over a week earlier (and after a lot of use) and the measurements come out essentially exactly what they were previously - demonstrating the repeatable results even after a lot of use and a few minor drops. Needless to say - I am impressed, and very happy with this purchase. So much so that I’m buying another set of smaller calipers by this company.

Caliper s are excellent. Straight forward to use. Box is a cheap plastic but it works. Good value for the buck. I am updating this review. Caliper still work. Bought the data transfer kit is the problem. It broke the tongue out of connection on caliper after only an hour of use
