This book has some great recipes in it
This book has some great recipes in it. I love that all of the recipes are healthy and easy to make. I do love using my slow cooker because its as simple as adding the ingredients and leaving it alone. I may go and stir it once or twice but that's it. I struggle on the weekends cooking for just two people. I have a stepdaughter, my daughter, a daycare and myself and my husband to cook for throughout the week so on the weekends when its just two of us, I have no clue how to cook. Cooking for two is very different than cooking for 10. This cookbook leaves all the guesswork out of it. Everything is already figured out so that I can make my husband a great dinner. There are quite a few recipes in here that we did love so much that I ended up figuring out how to make it for 10 instead of 2.Overall, this book has been great for making meals for 2 people. Its not easy cooking for 2 when your used to cooking for 10. The recipes are great and tasted delicious.I received this book at a discount in return for my honest and unbiased review.

One of my favorite kitchen gadgets is our slow cooker/crock pot
Itโs almost the time of year for when we use our slow cooker all season long! One of my favorite kitchen gadgets is our slow cooker/crock pot. Iโve always been amazed by some of the recipes that weโve done or have seen. There are so many I want to try and this is great source of some healthy recipes. The recipes are very easy to read. I love that there is a designated section for the ingredients, instructions along with the nutritional information. What I love even more though is the notations of โbenefitsโ ie. Gluten free, allergy friendly, etc; that is a great resource for folks who are allergic to certain things or who are tolerant of certain diets. My brother-in-law suffers from Celiac Disease so this will be perfect for cooking for him.We are two person household so this is definitely ideal! This is a great recipe book whether you live or want to try living a healthier lifestyle. I will definitely be implementing some of these recipes for the upcoming cold weather!I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Relearning how to "cook for two"
We are just entering the "empty nest" phase in our lives. Over the past many years ( 12 children, 32 grandchildren and counting), I have done a lot of cooking. We still do a lot of entertaining. But I have found it difficult alter my habit of cooking for a crowd, to cooking for only TWO people who are trying to eat more healthy - as well as minimize my time in the kitchen. This recipe book has a variety of food choices. I love that it gives specifics such as: Heart Healthy, Gluten-free, etc. The few recipes I have tried so far were yummy. The ingredients seem to be mostly easily accessible and ones that I already have in my pantry. The instructions were clear and simple, the preparation steps were simple and quick as well.It would also be a good wedding gift for beginning families. And if aI decide to share some of these recipes at family gatherings - it looks like they would be simple to make in larger portions.

Needs a few improvements to be a great cookbook.
Well, the positive on this book is: 1. healthy recipes. 2. Cooking for 2- which is very difficult to find.3. Nutritional values. Very important when trying to eat healthy. But there are a couple of things that really need improving. First- if you are going to cook in a slow cooker for 2 people, you REALLY need a slow cooker for 2 people. Using one of the larger ones does not do very well in cooking. i happen to have one, and tried the recipes both ways. The smaller cooker absolutely works better! #2: Where are the pictures? If I use a cookbook, the first thing I look for are pictures, so I can see what the recipe is supposed to look like, and if it looks appetizing enough for me to want to make. No pictures is a BIG downfall for me. Overall, I found this cookbook to be just OK. Add pictures. It will be a huge bonus!

Overall a great buy, add your own flavors...
***I received this book for a nominal fee in exchange for my honest opinion. In no way does this statement affect my review.***This cookbook is great for smaller families or those with younger children who aren't ready for full on table food. I really liked the varitey of recipes and how the cookbook was laid out. Finding a recipe by protein option, or vegetarian option, was incredibly useful to me. Ms. Ellgen also included tips in her meat-filled recipes to make them more veggie friendly. There were gluten-free options and low-sodium options, both in high demand. The portion sizing seemed off to me, however. I understand this book was written to accomodate 2 people but, after trying a few recipes, I always had either too much or too little food. I also found the herb ingredients to be lacking. Many of these recipes could have been spruced up with a few tsps. of Coriander, Basil, Mustard Seed, etc. Because of the long cook times many of the flavors cook out so I would recommend doubling Ms. Ellgen's herb and spice recommendations. Overall, I am very satisified with the cooking inspiration Ms. Ellgen provided. As a busy mom any slow cooker ideas are always a hit and she offered some innovative ways to infuse legumes and tofu that I hadn't before considered!

I love it, but need help.
Received my cookbook yesterday; love all the recipes and visuals, am sure the food will taste amazing. The situation, however, is that I am single, live with my only two-year-old son (who has his own food for being a feline), and I bought a 7qt slow-cooker because all I thought about was to cook twice per week and have all my meals covered.Where do I go from here? Help anyone?Cheers
