This thing has saved me from a lot of frustration. I have it wired to the battery in a truck that was always ending up with a dead battery because it wasn't getting used often enough. Since I installed this I've never had trouble with a discharged battery. I don't have it wired to a switch so have to remember to unplug it before I start the truck and plug it back in when I'm done. That connection is situated right beside the drivers side seat so it isn't a problem to get at.

I recently purchased the Schumacher SP-200 2.4W Solar Battery Maintainer for my motorcycle and I am extremely satisfied with its performance. Using it to charge my boat battery, works great

The main reason I purchased this maintainer was to keep the truck I use to pull my 5th wheel trailer ready to go even though it has been parked for two weeks. Since living on the road and staying at various RV parks for several weeks at a time I don't drive my truck on a daily basis which results in slow cranking when I do need to use it. The reason for the low drain in power is all is all the extra gadgets wired into the truck to make traveling safer/easier but they all have a small amount of parasitic drain on the start batteries. This drain makes for nervous starts when the motor cranks slow. The Schumacher Maintainer has worked great for the past 4 weeks with two test periods to verify it actually works. As instructed I started with fully charged batteries and then plugged the SP-200 into the accessory power outlet in the dash, laid it on the dashboard with the truck parked in a Southern exposure. After nine days of no use I climbed in and it fired right up. No slow cranking, no loss of radio presets or clock. I then tested it over a eighteen day period of time and there was no difference in performance. You do have to be careful that the maintainer is unplugged from the power outlet prior to starting to prevent the alternator sending power back to the solar panel. I'm very happy with this product as I have been with two other Schumacher products and refer others to fine product.
