Has anybody used these with some kind of connector to make Ts?

These were for my dad and he used as tomatoe stakes. Used twine or hay string to tie up tall tomatoe plants they also sale on amazon special ties for veggies plants

Has anyone cut one of these to say whether they are actually solid or hollow? The answers are conflicting. I want something solid I can bend
