NOTE: the company website makes a point of saying that because these bags are degradable, you should plan to use them within a year of purchase. Consider that before you buy a huge box of them. Why would I pay so much for poop bags, when there are cheaper versions and I could use grocery bags or newspaper bags for free? 1. These are a luxury item, for sure. As described, they have a double layer that makes you feel like you're less close to the item you're picking up. They come out of the box with the opening easily accessible, so you don't need to struggle to open it up to get your hand inside. They turn inside out and tie very easily, because the 2nd layer makes a nice pocket for holding the pickup material. Especially great for if your dog occasionally has very soft droppings that require a little work to pick up - definitely makes that process less gross. 2. These have high capacity. When I had my own yard I would sometimes pick up only once a day, and I could get 2-3 piles (from my medium-sized dog) into one bag. 3. You can sometimes buy cheaper knock-offs of these at chain pet stores, but the knockoffs are a different type of plastic that isn't degradable, AND they feel a little thinner. Also, I'd rather buy from the company that invented the item, even if it costs a little bit more, as a way of showing my appreciation for their efforts. 4. These bags are degradable in landfills. There are cheap single-ply bags that also claim to be degradable, so it's not really a reason for buying them, but might be worth considering as an additional feature. I'm not entirely sure if these would work in a backyard dog-waste composter, so contact the company if that's your plan. Yes, these bags cost a lot more than cheap poop bags, on a relative basis - 2x to 3x more, depending on what you buy. But on an absolute basis, you're paying a few cents more with each pickup for a nicer experience. I'd definitely recommend trying them and seeing if it's worth it to you! if you're going to pick up after your dog a few times a day, why not fly first class when you do?

I have used these Mutt Mitts ever since discovering them in our local parks many years ago. These are sturdy, can easily be folded to fit into even a tiny pocket, and they do the job. I love the thick double lined bottom section which keeps your hands clean while picking up the goods, and how easy it is to pull off your hand and close securely to eliminate the odors quickly. They are much better than grocery bags or any other poop bags I have tried. These are well worth the money spent. I always have a supply in my pocket to hand to others who neglect to carry anything along, as well as extras in my car when we travel or visit friends and family. They are much appreciated by the property owners where ever they are used. Every responsible dog owner should have and use these.

My dog is 8 years old. When she was a puppy, I found bags I loved (pink, with handles) but they eventually became too expensive to justify for this kind of duty. They were also on the thin side. For the last couple of years, I've tried several different brands of bags, never completely satisfied. If they were biodegradable, they were extremely thin or impossible to open. If they were thick enough, they were too small to tie without a mess. I tried Mutt Mitts after seeing good Amazon reviews and I LOVE them. They are big enough to handle a 50-pound dog without any fear of getting my hands dirty. They are absolutely thick enough so that no odor transfers to my hands and I don't mind carrying the bag for the rest of a long walk, if necessary. I like the extra thickness at the "mitt" part, which still allows enough dexterity to pick up stray nuggets. The only thing I would wish for is handles, but honestly they're big enough that I can easily knot them for carrying. As long as the price for these stays reasonable, these will be my go-to bag from now on.

I have used Mutt Mitts for years. There are four Greyhounds sleeping at my feet as I type this. When I first started using these bags, I would buy whatever the cheapest Mutt Mitt that was available. I eventually caught on to the fact that there are two levels of quality with these bags. The first is the Mutt Mitt in 100 unit bags. These are manufactured on a hanging frame that is designed to be installed in a dispenser in public spaces. These bags seem more lightly built, have a Mutt Mitt marked side that identifies the bag, and two nearly even sides as an opening. The Mutt Mitts in the 200 count box seem to be a bit more robustly built and have an offset opening that can be a good deal easier to open, particularly on cold, rainy days. It never hurts to comparison shop, but if you're looking for the best quality Mutt Mitt, make a point of buying the 200 count bag. I have never bought in any larger quantity, so I cannot speak to what quality you'll find in larger packages of this product.

I've had dogs since I was little, and several of my friends and family have dogs as well. Mutt Mitts are quite simply the best dog poop bags available, and I think I've tried them all. I would never have dreamed that a well-designed bag could make such a difference, but these make an unpleasant task quite a bit more bearable (still not fun however). This is especially true for dog walking because these bags lock in odor and hide the evidence much better than flimsier bags. Plus no more accidental punctures, and I find them easier to tie than other bags. Like other reviewers have mentioned, I've found myself using them for things other than dog poop. Use them once and you will swear by them. I typically buy them on the hanging cards, but there are always some that aren't perforated as well as others, and when they don't tear off you pull the whole thing off the wall--thus I'm trying a dispenser box this time. Buy in bulk to save money but be aware that they should be used within a year of purchase because they are biodegradable. I should also note that Amazon's price on these fluctuates a bit and sometimes it's cheaper to buy these direct from the manufacturer--especially when they are offering free shipping.

This is a great idea--I first used a similar-ish (if that is a word) product when living in Japan. There, trash is sorted most particularly, and dog poo was to go in 'burnable' trash. Rather than using grocery type bags there was a nice product with a burnable plastic and paper lining. Very nice, but a little small. Even with that drawback I found myself missing those bags and once again resorting to grocery bags once we moved. Not good for the environment, and just not good in terms of quality. I was very happy to find the Mutt Mitt--larger in size (enough to handle my 55# dog's poop easily) and sturdy enough not to make a mess. Also, biodegradable (and made in the USA). Even the box is cardboard, so less plastic junk to mess with. I saw some reviews commenting on a quality change--I did not know about these to compare, but I do find the current rendition to be of enough durability to have no worries about shredding or falling apart (something that did happen when not careful with my Japanese version of these). I do HIGHLY RECOMMEND these! JTG

My municipality uses Mutt Mitts in the parks, but a different version. I liked those so I bought these a while ago but found them just too thick to pick up after the dog - in theory I guess the double-ply heavy duty plastic is good, but I just found it too difficult to get the tactile feedback needed to grab the waste without smearing it into the grass. HOWEVER - I found a great alternative use! We get a lot of uninvited four legged critters that move into our attic and garage in the fall. Despite all attempts to seal them out, mice still come in. These bags are PERFECT for disposing of full mouse traps, they are just the right size and the thick plastic and double bottom mean the trap's copper bar won't poke through. I think it is much more sanitary and Eco-friendly than using several used grocery bags per body. I just drop them in a Mutt Mitt, tie it off and drop it in the trash. They should market these to exterminators.
