Not assembled backwards
People who commented that these are assembled wrongly didn't open them correctly. They ship flat (and fit in my hive tool box), but if you don't pay attention (or never worked a frame grip) you push the hinged part the wrong direction and the grip prongs face outward. Just flatten them again and push the hinge area the other way. As for how well they work, pretty impressive for an $8 tool. No they aren't $35 Little MULE compound grips, but for quick frame inspection or honey super frame removal for extraction, they work great. They are clearly for wood frames and hold quite steady. They WILL work for plastic frames too, but the style of plastic frame matters. Thicker, reinforced top bars works about the same as on wood. Those plastic frames with just a single, thin top bar will rotate about 12 degrees in the grip. Still holds the frame tightly, but your hand won't be directly above the frame. Speaking of hands, because they are not compound grips, small to medium hand size might struggle holding pressure on the handles because they do not touch while gripping a frame

Awesome tool and great price
This is one of my favorite purchases for my beekeeping. First, let me start off by saying it is a fantastic affordable price for a good quality tool. Definitely worth the money. Works just as well as the namebrand versions. It is not super sharp so it won’t damage your frames, the weight and grab strength is perfect, and the size is pretty good for all different hand sizes. I would recommend this for any and all beekeepers

Buy it! Best frame holder I have seen.
Very very nice frame holder compared to all others I have seen. Very well built and the contoured handle fits super comfortably in your hands and is quality finished wood. Not rough, not cheapo. The metal is also good quality. This is a very nice frame holder. Folds up flat for storage and is easy to open and use one handed. So glad I bought this and not one of the cheapo ones that all the local feed stores carry.

Improves handling and gentleness
I received my frame grip fully assembled. It is great for me since I work my hives alone and because my hives are in high fire danger areas, I don’t always use smoke. This works great when the frames are heavy and there are lots of bees in the way. I can clamp the frame without getting in the way of bees and easily lift it with one hand without risk of sudden moves. All it takes is a small drop of one end when you put a frame back into a hive to get the bees “buzzed” up - the clamp allows me to place the frame more gently. It is very well made.

Great
Never owned one of these before this one. I have seen them around but didn’t think I would have a need for them or like using them. I found out I actually do like this product. I still don’t use it all the time but sometimes it is nice to use. One thing to note is be carful with these it’s very easy to let pressure off of the grip without realizing it and you can drop frames (ask me how I know), not good for you/bees because you will likely have some very angry bees.

Works great!
Works fantastic! I'm not super strong and it is hard for me to pry my bee frames out of the hive especially after the bees glue them together with propolis. This frame grip is super durable feeling and it helps me remove the frames much faster and without accidentally hurting bees/chipping wood off the frame! Do note that the grip is meant to grab into the capped honey, not the wood of the frame, so if you have a frame full of honey it will probably drip from the hole made in the capped honey when you grab it.

Arrived assembled wrong/backwards!
Ours were put together backwards and we couldn’t remove the rivets to fix. Seems like they would be a solid piece of hive equipment if they had been properly assembled! Buyer beware, you may get a nice tool for your hive, or you may get a useless piece of metal!
