In the Home app: - On the home screen, select your thermostat. - Tap Temperature mode Heat mode. - Choose the mode you want. On the thermostat: - Tap to open the Menu view. - Slide your finger to Temperature mode Heat mode and tap to select. - Slide your finger to the mode you want, then tap to set it. Can I lock this thermostat where only I can control it from my phone?

Can you turn off the feature that causes it to realize if you are home or not?

Yes you can have it set steady instead of the smart mode for different times.
