Q: How large is the backing patch? What material is it?

The backing patch is approximately 4 inches by 4 inches. Unfortunately the packaging does not state what type the reinforcing material is, but appears to be some type of jean material.

Unfortunately it won't help much to repair holes. It is meant to repairs linear tears and rips. You need a few inches worth of tears to insert a base fabric underneath. It is great for this purpose.

Q: What If the color doesn't match? How do I remove it without damaging my couch more?

You're capable of matching the colors pretty closely to the existing pigment. I had no problem doing so for the leather in my car.
