LONGER LK5 Pro 3 3D Printer, 11.8x11.8x15.7in Large Printing Size with Resume Printing FDM 3D Printer Fully Open Source Motherboard Upgrade TMC 2209 3D Printers 95% Pre-Assembled Ideal for Beginners

I have had my Longer LK5 Pro for over two months, and I have over a kilogram of filament and about 200 hours of print time on it. I love it. This is my first 3D printer, but I am impressed with the LK5 Pro’s print quality, the large full color touchscreen, and how easy it was to set up. I consistently make parts with tolerances down to 1/10th of the millimeter. The machine is large! I could not find any dimensions of the unit, outside of the build volume, when I bought mine. It’s outside dimensions are approximately 24” deep x 20” wide x 26.25” high without a spool of filament, so plan accordingly.In sort, I would recommend the LK5 Pro to anyone as a first printer, for someone looking for a larger build volume, or as a general workhorse production printer.The long story: This is not going to replace any six-figure commercial printers, and I know the Longer is an Ender clone. The quality of the machine and its prints are very good. The 300mm X 300mm X 400 mm build volume is worth the extra money. I watched dozens and dozens of review videos, and I had none of the small fit and finish issues the reviewers reported. (They must have had early production printers?) All of my wheels and bearings were tight from the factory, and I have only made small adjustments after many hours of printing. I took my time and spent an hour squaring the final assembly and tramming the print bed with a feeler gauge (not with paper). I used the included filament to print the “Benchy” file included on the micro SD card the same night I opened the box. (Go ahead and order up a spool of filament because the sample is all that comes with the printer, and you will want to make a lot more stuff right away!) I made no adjustments and used the factory settings. The test print quality was impressive compared to most 3D printed things I’ve had experience with. Longer appears to be making improvements and upgrades as their team and users find them. The Maker community is also busy making upgraded parts to print, so I don’t feel like I’m alone with my printer choice.I find 3D Printing to be like any other hobby I’ve had. People are quick to join a “tribe” and declare anything other than what they have to be junk and a wast of time and money. Like any piece of equipment, there is fine tuning and experimentation to get it dialed in. Every filament is a little different and you will need to tune the printer accordingly in your slicer software. (That is part of the fun and how you work toward being and expert in something.) No tech gadget is truly plug and play or set it and forget it. In the end, do your home work and get something you like so you can make something! My personal experience tells me the Longer LK5 Pro was a very good choice and has opened up a whole world of design and production to me.

I've very recently purchased a Creality CR-10 V2 prior to the LK5-Pro and I felt it would be beneficial to some to give my comparison feedback. I had to return the CR-10, but this review isn't about that experience, and I'll try not to let it influence it. This is not my first printer, I'll mention that now. I wanted a another/larger printer.Box/Opening Thoughts:Both products are packaged very well, and look professional. Longer didn't have the tools as secured but that made no difference. I'll note that the CR-10 did weigh about 5lbs more, and I'll come back to that.Assembly:Both printers are some what assembled. CR-10 was easier to assemble, and instructions were easier to follow, more accurate images, written better. I had to watch a video briefly for the LK5 to clear up some confusion on a piece. Neither were difficult to assemble. In the past I've assembled kit printers, and either are a dream compared to that.Machine Itself:Both machines have same/similar parts. Both have "silent" drivers, which I believe are the TMC2208 but don't hold me to that. The glass beds appear exactly the same with different badging. They both have same hot end. The extruders are similar, I did think the Creality one seemed "beefer", but only slightly. I had less trouble getting filament through the "run out" sensor on LK5, and like where it's located better.The CR-10 has a stronger frame, which is where that extra weight comes in. It has a better looking hot end cover, and bigger fans. I'll also note the CR-10 has a slightly bigger power supply, and therefore heats up faster. The CR-10 also has duel Z, some people think this is a big deal, myself it's marginal.The LK5 Pro with it's attached touch screen is very nice, . There isn't a separate control unit taking up space and filled with fans that are very loud like the CR-10. This alone gives them some bonus points.Printing:Both printers printed pretty good right out of the box. There's always some tinkering needed but in this case I'll say it's a draw between them. The LK5 does vibrate a lot more when it's printing, but I'm sure I can dampen that with some TPU feet. Both printers connected to Octoprint with ease, and same with setting up a profile inside of Cura. Longer has profiles available.The Verdict:The LK5 Pro being over a $100 less than the CR-10 V2 makes it a clear winner. With the exception of the slightly stronger/heavier frame, dual Z, better looked hot end cover they are made of much of the same parts. I would recommend this to a friend.

This is my first 3d filament printer.This item shipped in a form fitting poly-ethylene foam liner inside a sturdy cardboard box. It arrived in perfect condition, no dents, bends or scratches. All parts were easily identified.Set-up was fairly easy, even with the original manual with the dark pictures. There is a new manual available on the Longer website which is much clearer. The Changlish is better than usually included with items like this. There are also a few un-boxing and setup videos on YouTube, so setup should not be an issue.I've enjoyed learning about 3d printing over the last couple of months. My initial benchy print worked very well but as I began tweaking settings and experimenting I began to have bed adhesion issues. I was able to overcome these by tweaking temperatures, bed leveling and initial layer print speed, but I think my real problem was the extrusion speed. Once I calibrated the extruder, the bed adhesion issues went away. It was under extruding at about 92% of what it should have been doing. I've also printed an improved fan shroud which has improved quality or overhangs and bridging. Got stringing under control by adjusting retraction and nozzle temperatures and I'm really happy with the results. I've only used PLA so far, but it's supposed to be capable of nozzle temperatures up to 250 C and bed temperatures up to 100 C so I will branch out in the future.I'm planning on replacing the plastic extruder assembly with a metal one, but I don't expect that to affect quality much, I just want a metal extruder to improve reliability. The frame, diagonal braces and under-slung power supply seem well-built. The bed and nozzle both heat up in a reasonable amount of time. Items really stick to the hot bed, but once it cools they pop right off. I've experimented with the power failure feature, it works but you need to get things going again before the bed cools too much. The unorthodox position of the filament reel does not present a problem for me but could could be modified if desired. My tallest print, so far, has only been 220 mm but there were no issues at that height. With the sturdiness of the frame, and the good bed adhesion I'm getting now, I expect much taller items could be printed with no issues.I am using the printer with an OctoPi interface, but did my initial testing using a micro SD card. Both methods work well, but the additional convenience of the OctoPi/OctoPrint setup is wonderful. I am also using the Prusa slicer which probably complicated the learning curve. I just preferred it's user interface.This printer was not plug-and-play (except with the benchy) so I would not recommend it for someone inexperienced and uninterested in tweaking and adjusting a printer to bring it into line, but I love that kind of stuff, it's just a hobby for me.I would recommend this printer to anyone who anticipates using it's full capacity (300 x 300 x 400) and has experience with 3d printing or wants to learn how to get the most out of a printer.

Purchased the Longer LK5 Pro 3D printer a few days ago and it came fast. It has been a dream to use. I would definitely recommend this as a great printer for anyone starting out with 3D printing or even for veterans that want a more compact and reliable unit for it's large size. I am extremely impressed.SET-UP.The setup was straight forward. It took me about half an hour to have it fully setup and powered on as they advertise it being about 90% already set up. Well it's true. All the tools needed are provided with the unit to complete the full setup. There are a few great youtube videos on setting up that you can watch as well if you need a little extra help.OPERATIONS.Very easy to use. This is not my first 3D printer, so I do have a little bit of experience with them in general. But this was still a very easy printer to simply start using. Leveled the bed, loaded filament and printed the test print. It came out absolutely flawless on this LK5 Pro. I am very impressed. Like I said, I have had it for a few months now and it has been rock solid. I have not had a single issue. Just load filament and print. I've not even had to re-level my bed yet.QUALITY.The unit itself is very sturdy. The hardware used is good quality. Everything aligns very well. I do not foresee any issues with quality in the future. They run multiple test before shipping it out to you Quality is top notch.VALUE.You will not find a better printer for this price. This printer exceeded my expectations on every level and the volume is just a added bonus.

When I first bought this machine, I wasn't having too much of any issues. The only constant issue at the time I was having was the machine turning on when I flipped the toggle power switch in the back and would have to repetitively flip the switch in the back until the machine turned on. But now since I have upgraded the dual fans and firmware this machine is constantly plague by problems.• Dual fans not turning on automatically• Overheating of the extruder• The constant filament not detected• Having to constantly restart the machine for heating failure• Machine not powering on consistentlyTrying to find replacement parts are a headache on it's own. You would had to wait weeks before getting the parts in. At this point I don't recommend this machine to anyone

Product is a decent starting printer although the bed heat error seems persistent I replaced the item and found it was still having that error after a couple of prints the bed temp could not heat up as needed and you’d find yourself erroring out 10 minutes into a new print so you could not print again!

I have 4 fdm and 3 resin printers and this is my new fav. I am building another 3d Printed R2D2 and will buy 2 more of these. At 300x300x400mm print surface its the perfect size, and an amazing price. Took 20 min to assemble 10 minutes to level with a feeler gauge I bought from Harbor Freight, it printed a test print perfect on my first print. The best part of this printer is most printers when it runs out of filament (when your asleep it seams) most quality ones will resume but you must be their to catch otherwise the bed cools down and the print pops off ruining the print. This printer stayed hot for over 3 hours till I noticed allowed me to change filament, with the model still stuck to the plate. You can see the transition to black filament in picture. Dont bother with adding the auto level Bl touch this was so easy to level with a feeler gague 3 trips around then perfect HUGE prints. I recommend fully!

This printer is awesome!!! It came in a very well padded box almost 90% preassembled. I was up and printing within about 20 minutes. The machine is quieter than most. In the background of the video are two other printers that are working.My Longer printer is so quiet and thorough, I cannot say enough about it. Great for the price point and for any level of user. The filament is super easy to load. The display panel allows for easy access. The leveling process is super easy.I had to reach out to customer service as I was getting a code and the printer was shutting down. Customer service was amazing with helping me troubleshoot. They even sent me parts to replace! Now my printer is running like a champ!!!I strongly suggest purchasing this printer.
