Good Carry On if You Want Something that is Light in Weight
I'm writing this review after having used the bag as a carry-on on five trips. Pros: very light weight compared to other carryon's of a similar size. The bag is well made and zippers work well even when bag is full. I had to gate check the bag one time, when I had a tight connection, and then retrieved at the baggage carousel and it seemed to hold up well. I was looking for the lightest possible carry on and this fit the bill. There is enough space to carry a week's work of clothes, including two pairs of shoes (which are on the smaller side so this may vary for someone with larger shoes). The soft structure allows for more flexibility when placing in overhead compartment. Looks professional which is important when traveling for work. The wheels roll smoothly on flat linoleum or tile floors like in an airport concourse. Very good for domestic and international travel. Cons: if you place a bag on top, sliding the handle via a sleeve in a back pack or other bag, the suitcase tends to tip more easily than a solid suitcase might. Wheels don't move as smoothly over carpet and require more exertion. I am not sure how well the wheels and bag would hold out if checked often as it looks to be on the more delicate side - given the light fabric. However, I am confident in using it many more times as carry on only. Overall: Pleased with purchase. I researched a lot of different bags, with weight being one of my main criteria along with quality and am satisfied with this bag. Easy to lift and place in overhead compartment and more amenable to weight restrictions that airlines might impose on carry on bags. I don't know if this fits within the parameters of European or Asian carriers who tend to be more stringent about size of carry-ons. I've used it on US carriers to Asia with no problem.

Sexy, High Quality, and Functional
Stylish, matches my other purple Lipault items...have to admit I started buying this line for the color alone, but now I appreciate the quality immensely. Just the look and feel of the fabric though...wow. I literally walk taller dragging this through the airport. :) I went on vacation with my boyfriend, who has a Swiss Gear Carry On. He actually complimented my luggage more than once! It is lighter than his and the "squish" factor (this piece isn't rigid sided) that I thought might be a downside actually proved to be a plus when jamming into overhead bins and wedging into the back of the rental (Toyota Yaris - SMALL). I can also testify that it survived a VERY long trek through the Wharf district of San Francisco when we managed to park WAY further from our hotel than we realized...and the trek back to the car the next morning when we got lost and went the wrong way first... The wheels look small enough that I was worried about how they'd hold up, but they fared just fine on the bumpy bumpy sidewalks.

Fits overhead compartment on European airlines
Flew on several different European airlines, and it fitted in the overhead compartments with no problem. Lightweight, and the bag and handles felt strong. As some reviews noted, it is soft, and putting a bag on top of it can be a problem unless the suitcase is completely packed . This is the only reason that I am not giving it a five star rating. I would buy it again.

Durable Bag is Classy and Convenient
Best travel bag ever. I’m on my second Lipault with the same size and dimensions. Perfect for a weekend or for staying a month or longer. First bag lasted over ten years and would still be functioning except baggage handlers were way to rough on it. I expect this bag to last twenty years or more!. Fits easily in any standard overhead and can normally handle all the punishment from the baggage crew. This bag is so versatile I will never get a different bag. I typical use this bag for at least 7 to 8 trips a year and it still looks brand new. It took me a long time to find the perfect bag. With the state of the art wheels you can make the longest connection without being exhausted. You can’t go wrong with the convenience and quality. I’ll never use any other bag!!

A new-generation carry-on
This French carry-on was recommended by a relative who does lots of short-term business travel. We have used excellent expandable carry-ons for many years that were made by the now-defunct Pathfinder Luggage, a good company tossed out in the merger of two larger, unrelated businesses. The old Pathfinders are still doing well, but we are older, and the airport corridors longer. We have just returned from a two-week vacation trip with one Pathfinder and a new Lipault 22-inch carry-on. What a difference! To look at them, the Lipault would seem to hold less because it is slightly tapered at the top (when standing on its wheels). But it held plenty of informal travel attire. Whatever the frame is made of, it's much lighter when empty, and the four-wheel base instead of the Pathfinder's two wheels makes the new suitcase practically effortless to push about and control on the smooth floor of an airport terminal or sidewalk. I suspected the smaller wheels would be a problem when pulling or pushing the bag up or down stairs, but that didn't present a problem, perhaps because the bag is so much easier to lift. I could quibble With the lack of a bottom handle for hoisting onto a luggage rack with two hands, but that's minor compared to the many advantages.

No bottom grip, LONG handle, very stuff-able . Amaranth is...different.
7th piece of Lipault, heavy use. LOVE THEM. This particular model does not have a handle grip on the bottom, which would be handy for slinging it up into bins on planes and trains, but not necessary for such a small and light bag. The other rap on all Lipault is trouble setting a computer bag or handbag on the top, as the squish able soft material lets the load settle and then the top slopes. The softness is its strength, and its weakness. You can jam oodles in(and then fill the outer pocket with more). When fully loaded, however, the top is flat and firm. 6'3" Husband, who needs a long handle, and I are both fans and kept fighting over this size, so now have two. Once had an issue with color mis- match on our Tangerine set. Amaranth RED is NOT red, not pink, not purple. Nice color, but It is halfway between dark magenta and maroon, and darker than most photos on screens, so less "girly" than expected. Which could be a plus or minus, depending on what you are looking for. I was hoping husband would keep his hands off, but he likes this color as much as the Tangerine, which was a Hunter Safety orange.

No structure
Light weight but it has no structure , when putting personal bag on , it keeps falling. When fully packed it is hard to close.

Tuff light weight padded awesome travel companion
Great luggage, this is my second one. It fits European carry on and expands due to soft sides. Padded, rip proof material and SUPER light weight. I travel weekly and overstuff constantly. The previous bag lasted 4 years before I bent the handle. Great looking and very functional for travelers.rolls really well, sometimes too well, really easy to push or pull. Highly recommend.

Is ok.
Very light weight. Good wheels. Could be a little bigger. Not as nice as I thought would be. Especially for the money!
