How do you open the nozzle?

You can't do anything to the nozzle. Take the cap off & squirt. I do not recommend this for a baby! The spray comes out way too much for tiny noses! It is almost to much for me.

What are the ingredients? Does it have preservatives?

This is a triple normal (strong) salt solution. NaCl. Salt itself is a preservative.

What is the difference between the purple can and the green can?

I personally liked the purple can better, but it is hard to find. It's also more expensive.
