D'Addario Black Ice Guitar Picks, 100 pack, Heavy

Liked the 1.1mm the best The 1.5 mm is little too heavy. Might even try a couple of thinner picks. Quality product and price. Highly recommended.

Slightly larger than a Dunlop Jazz iii but smaller than a Dunlop Jazz iii XL. Brighter than both a nylon Dunlop Jazz iii and a tortex Jazz iii. I would also say that the Black Ice pick 1.10mm feels stiffer than the Dunlop Jazz iii 1.14mm tortex. It's like getting the stiffness and resistance of a larger pick in a slimmer form. The tip is as good as the other brands allowing for excellent precision. While slightly larger than the Jazz III picks (which is a good thing,) they're not quite big enough for my tastes (the Jazz III XLs are better if you like larger picks.) However, I feel like these will fit the bill for a lot of players, as they hit what seems to be a niche when it comes to the size. These aren't terribly expensive compared to the JD Flow picks that I settled on. However, they're Derilin, which makes them pretty much the same as the Tortex picks.

I really like this pick. It has a real musical quality to the pick attack that is smoother to my ears. Not as bright as the Nylpro and Dunlop Jazz III stiffo picks. The one thing that is REALLY noticeable with this pick is how easily they glide across the strings. I can pick faster, cleaner, and with more dynamic range with this pick than I can any other pick. I have used the black Dunlop Jazz IIIs for at least the last 12 years until I tried this one out. I like the the way this pick just as much. The pick attack sounds better for Jazz and progressive rock (to my ears) as I prefer a smoother, warmer, attack. The Jazz IIIs I prefer for Hard Rock and Metal as they have a sharper attack.

I've never used picks from Planet Waves before. I usually use Fender picks or the more popular picks. This was a good surprise for me to find our about this product. The size and shape of this pick is a combination between the "regular" shaped Fender pick (which is big) and a teardrop shape smaller picks. The result is something in between, it is smaller but not too small. I got the heavy ones 1.10mm because i like stiff picks and the thickness is excellent. The pick feels sturdy and wont flex. The material is also nice, it reminds me of turtex type material, which is not slippery. It is a keeper!

The first set I bought were the 551 shape jazz style plectrum which is what is shown for this style of black ice D'Addarios but the second one were just regular style picks clearly what a terrible way to start business with a new client planet waves

Amazing picks, they last long and definitely help improve speed in picking.

I’ve been on a search to find the right picks for me. I was using the standard jazz III picks at the time. However, health issues were making it difficult to use those tiny picks. I wanted something easier to hold onto that still provided that clear fundamental and ease of picking of the jazz iii. I found these black ice picks are very easy to hold. The texture is fantastic: somehow smooth and yet grippy at the same time. The “problem” is the tone. At least in my hands, these picks roll off a bit of treble. Now, if you’ve got a tele that needs the ice pick tamed, the black ice may be a dream come true. For me, I had to move on, but they are really nice picks.

Ich habe schon die ein oder anderen Plektren ausprobiert. Auch schon exotischerere... alle möglichen Formen und Stärken. Und eines Tages habe ich diese Plektren zum probieren mit bekommen. Und was soll ich sagen. Sie liegen mir Perfekt in der Hand. Haben ein sehr angenehmes Gefühl und rutschen nich. Es lässt sich sehr präzise spielen. Egal ob offene Akkorde, harte Riffs oder schnelle Soli. Die Plektren kommen damit zurecht. (Oder eher ich mit den Plektren. Is ja bekanntlich Geschmackssache).

These are good value as they seem to be durable. Also, they don't slip when your fingers start sweating. I think I'll be sticking with them for a bit.
